Littlest Bakeshop Recipe Cards

How exactly do these work? Are they for pictures or actual recipes? Also, some of the recipe cards seem to have the images upside down....Is that how it is supposed to be?

I had to go see what you were talking about, lol...I didn't look at them very closely!

They're designed to go with this album: https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/...age=product_info&cPath=65_66&products_id=2388

So, the tabs on that are actually "upside down"...they face down instead of up. Some pages would be recipe pages and then when you flip the page it would be photos on the back.

Does that make sense? I have the actual chipboard album so it totally makes sense how they've set it up, but sometimes it's hard to wrap your head around it without the product physically in your hands to look at.

Oh it does help to see which chipboard it goes with, but you're right, it is really hard to wrap my head around it without actually seeing it. Do you happen to have any pictures of your finished product??

No, I haven't put mine together...let me see though if I can find an example though, I know lots of paper scrappers have used the album...

here's the front page of a finished one..all I saw in the store

Ok, here's one done as a calendar...now the way they designed the album is that the recipes would fit on the pages where the calendars are, and the layouts would go on the backs so when you flip the pages up to make them go to the other side, you'd see the photos. Though in this example, she did it the opposite way, lol.

Maybe Dani or Manda have the whole album they could show you, cause I don't think I'm doing a good job of explaining, lmao!

I am writing up a tutorial for this album ..... It took me a while to figure it out too. Be looking for my tutorial on the Girl Talk blog ... and I will be sure to post a link here too.

Haha! Well I can tell you from the designer standpoint, this album was a struggle to make. :) We decided to have the actual recipes go on the frontsides and the photos of the recipe or any photos in general go on the backs so that when you lift a page up, they are matching. Does that make any sense?? I hope so, because this album is adorable and I cannot wait to see one completly finished. Thanks for your interest!! :)

Seems to me to be a waste to put the names of the cookies on the tabs of the album (sorry - no offense Amber 'cause your recipe album is adorable!!!) but I had the album in my head as each tabbed page being a divider. You know ... a desserts tab, a cookies tab, a main course tab, appetizers tab, party foods tab, etc. Then your regular sized recipe cards would be behind each tab.

That's how mine will be once we collect all of the recipe cards for the card swap we're doing on Penny's blog each Monday in May.

I thought of that - but each card is tabbed so there are not untabbed cards - and I am not sure more would fit since you can see how thick mine is with just 8 of the 12 cards that come with the [hysical album.

This is how I made one for a friend. I made it with paper supplies though (took me freaking forever!) I'll link it up in a minute. One thing though, like Amber said, it's super thick. I used each tab as a catagory, then put in punched recipe cards for her to fill out. It was SO thick I couldn't use the rings anymore because the pages wouldn't flip, and also the stand became useless as the book was so heavy it would just collapse the stand. So its just a "rest on the counter with out the stand" kinda book now, lol!

Here's the link... it starts with the one called "Favorite Recipes"... http://www.lovebugscrapbooking.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=499

You'll see that its on rings in the pictures, it took me like half an hour to get them on, then I took the pictures. But in between all the pics, the book was falling over & after I took them, I replaced the rings with ribbon. You can see in the last couple pictures how thick the book was (the flipped pages), and that was WITHOUT putting recipe cards in...

Ooooo your album is beautiful in those dark colors! I can see where all of those pages made it very heavy. I think I'll stick to just a few of the pages as dividers and then add cardstock recipe cards.

thanks for the info/tips/techniques! We never know what will work and what won't until someone gives it a go and says "yes it works" or "no, that won't work!!!" LOL....

Since the chipboards don't have tabs, does that mean that when you print out the recipe cards, then the tabs will just be paper and not backed by the chipboard?

Does that make sense what I am asking?

The chipboard album DOES have tab. They are just at the bottom of the page, instead of at the top (like recipe cards in a box)

Yes .... the front page (cover) doesn't have a tab, but the inside pages have them. It has 12 tabbed cards - so it is 3 "sets" with tabs in 4 positions on the card. You can see in this photo on the blog:
