Lightening fried my router! Ack!

We got some HUGE storms this afternoon, knocked out power. When it came back on, I had NO phone, and NO internet for hours. Finally after dinner, DH called the phone company and got them to reset it or whatever they do, and now the internet and phone is working great.

My router however, is not so good. It won't work at all, I can't pick up the wireless on my PC or lappie at all. So I'm on DH's computer (just for a sec, he's gone LOL) and I'll be scarce until I get a new router and/or figure out what's going on!

Grrrr! I wanted a new router, but not like this LOL

Ack, maybe all the insane storms we went through on our trip made it out your way?!

It's so annoying. I mean, you know you should be thankful for everyone being okay after a storm and your house still standing, but all you can think of is, "Don't mess with my computer/internet!!!" :cursing: :D Okay, well, we are happy for all that other stuff too, but you know what I mean, LOL.

Sorry to hear that Jamie! I remember how painful it was to set up our router -- with numerous calls to customer service reps in India. So, I am praying that our router lasts forever. :) There's a good chance of that right? Right???

yikes! sorry that happened to you.

so should we be unplugging routers/modems and such during storms?

That sucks Jamie! We haven't gotten hardly any thunder here, but a few hours away they have...it's so weird. I hope you get a new router soon!

Oh Hugs honey! I can imagine how frustrating that would be! I hope its up and running for you again! Noah split water in my cable modem last month and it was such a pita to get everything working smoothly again!

Oh Jamie, that sucks. We have had a crazy summer of storms and I ALWAYS unplug my computers. Once my brother's TV and VCR were fried by a storm. It literally blew up the TV....sparks came out. Scary. Since then, I always unplug.

I hope you get everything fixed quickly and you are up and running ASAP. I'm sorry that happened to you.

That is no fun! We keep our modem and router plugged into a surge protector... so if something gets zapped, the power strip would die and not our equipment. ;)
