Let's talk storage

...so...I need some storage shelves that I can hang on my walls and put stuff in/on. I have a teeny tiny little spot where I will be putting a teeny tiny little desk but I have a lot of stuff, so I need help organizing. :( Anyone want to show their spaces or tell me where I can get *affordable* shelves that are really practical??

Yea, how small a space are we talking about here?

I would really love to get an old secretary from goodwill or somewhere, and paint it up pretty. Then all my scrap would get tucked away in drawers and my lappy could hang out on the desk part with the fold down closing door thingy (I am awesome at explaining things :p). On the other wall I want to get an armoir to hold all my other stuff. We're hopefully *finally* buying a bedroom set, and there should be an armoire that will match. So I can get that and hide everything away. It drives Jordan MAD how messy my space is, lol.

Sorry, I just hijacked your thread :p

yeah..we are talking really small...I can't take a pic at the moment cause the christmas tree is still there. :D :D :D It's like a 5-6 ft. wall section...and I don't have a space for standing shelves or anything. It's gotta be stuff I can hang on the wall....

Do you have an Ikea near you? They have some great floating shelves for decent prices. I like the Ekby Jarpen shown on the front of the shelving page:

Or, I used this system from Home Depot currently. It's not super pretty, but it gets the job done, and when it's screwed into the studs it can take a ton of weight. I'm pretty sure mine aren't in studs and it still holds a ton of weight, lol. I have the white metal wires ones, but I think they have more options now (bought it all a good 3-4 years ago).

Do you have an IKEA close by? Or some folks have gotten curtain rods at WalMart and created the same thing - both very inexpensive:

This hangs on my wall to hold punches. Cheap white board from Home Depot with molding and the rails are Bygel kitchen rails from IKEA:

More rails and Bygel baskets. They also have plastic cups to use instead of/in addition to the baskets.

.

Or I've seen pegboard with lots of hooks to hold tools that look cool.

My DH loves these Rubbermaid cabinets he found on sale at Home Depot and they were really easy to put up:

Of course my room never looks this clean and alot of this stuff has been sold as I've dived into the digi world more :)

these are awesome!!! I do not have an Ikea close. *sigh* I soooo need to move! Someone find my hubby a new job someplace close to an Ikea...and someplace WARM! LOL!

Those white shelves you both post are totally perfect I think! I couldn't fit a ton in, but I could put a few and then get boxes which would be just right I think! Thank you so much!

I have an IKEA Billy Wall Shelf above my desk. It is just shy of 4 feet across. I like it because it holds full sized binders as well as baskets of stuff. And, having the compartments, nothing is falling over. I think you can buy it online too.

Kim- can I can live in that room? :) Organization is something I REALLY lack!

Don't let my pictures fool ya :) When my DH set up my room he made me promise I'd have it "nice" at least once for pictures. Every other day it has looked like a tornado hit!

I lurve IKEA. I am gonna go in March, let me know if you need something then Crystal. Even though its a while a way, I am stocking up when I go.
