we first discussed boots. now i want to discuss fashion, lol. i did buy the boots. the shorter, cinnamon colored ones. they are so comfy. i went to the store and i'm still wearing them, lol. i don't wanna take em off!

okay, i am 3 0years old. sometimes when i like something that is trendy, i get worried that i'm too old. that it might look like i'm trying to be a teenager again. well, i do shop in the juniors department, but most of the time i'm pretty simple; jeans, henleys, sweaters. that sort of thing. but i'm intrigued by the whole legging trend now. i see girls wearing them with sweater dresses or skirts. even with their Uggs which some people hate but i think it looks cute, lol. granted, now that i'm 30 i probably shouldn't go too short with my dresses/skirts. but i'm still afraid i'll look like a wannabe teenybopper if i wear leggins with a skirt, lol. i hate getting old :( i just need some new clothes and want to try to be somewhat trendy with not overdoing it, lol.

what's a fashion no no for 30+? you can be honest. tell me if i'm wrong for wanting to wear leggings if you think so, lol.
 
*lol* I wish I was cool enough to know the answer to your question, Corey! Or be able to buy clothes that fit me in the Juniors section!!

Alas, Fizz will have to swoop in and save the fashion day, not me. :)
 
leggings is(are? lol) a no no for me.. and I'm younger than you ^_^ .. it reminds me of being a kid (as obviously.. we wore them then lol). I just can't wrap my head around it lol

yah, La, thats what i keep telling myself. that maybe i shouldn't. but i think i'm just in denial that i'm no longer in my teens and twenties and can't really wear whatever i want anymore,lol.
 
My girls..all have/wear leggings (except now Cam is going thru a phase where she doesn't like tight things) but not sure I ever could..I'm almost 32 so around the same age lol..just makes me feel like i'm trying to hard.

I like to look at the Old Navy outfits they put together and go from there sometimes lol...I want to look like a fashionable MOM not a sister (granted my oldest is a lot older than yours too so it makes a diff)
 
I thinkg leggings can be worn at 30+ and be age-appropriate. I think of myself as fashion-forward (whatever that means, lol). I don't do leggings because I'm not particularly proud of my backside, etc ... lol. I think almost any trend can be worn in your 30's as long as it's done tastefully (no mid-section bearing, don't choose clothes 2 sizes too small, etc ...)
 
Meghan, that exactly what i want to be, a fashionable mom. Old Navy is one of my favorite stores so that's a good place to start. i just feel really bored with what i've got (which is very little, lol) and want to spice it up a bit if i can ever get a chance to buy some stuff, lol. that's why i was kinda unsure about the boots. but now that i know how comfy they are, i don't care if they look dumb!

Sheri, thats what i've been seeing, is that as long as you adapt it a tad bit, its okay to wear trendy stuff. i'm not planning on showing my butt in a pair of tights, lol. i would definitely have something covering it if i decided to wear them. but i may just stick with my jeans :)

My opinion is that its usually ok, as an "older" (and by older I mean not a teenager) woman, to do maybe one possibly two trendy pieces per outfit. After that, I just feel like it looks fake and a bit silly.

For example.... a sweater dress/shirt over a pair of leggings w/ Uggs and a scarf would be a little "too" much IMO for a non-teenager. But leggings themselves with a cute tunic top would be fine.

Does that make any sense? You don't want to look like a walking Delia's catalog when you're in you're late 20s or older, ya know?

lol, yah you're right! i don't wanna be one of 'those' moms who just try a little too hard :p. thanks everyone. i think i'll stick with jeans and concentrate on getting some cute tops and sweaters!
 
gracing you with opinion: no leggings. :D

instead: cute skinny jeans with your uggs/boots. to be extra cool you can even do one big cuff roll on your skinnies if they aren't too skinny. otherwise tuck those suckers into your boots, puff up your hair, put in some cute earrings and a hot old navy hoodie and your good to go. trendy, spunky and not trying to look 15.
 
I think a cute longer top, jeans, and the boots would be super cute!

thanks Lizzy! i do love the skinny jeans tucked into the boots. i think i'm going to try some stuff on at Old Navy. and i love hoodies. and cute earings! cool. i'm going to look trendy and spunky! just how i wanted lol

Seriously, ya'll. Liz has the absolute CUTEST style ever. I want to be like her when I grow up, but I just can't pull off half the stuff she does.

So, when Liz tells you to do something, fashion-wise, DO IT! You can't go wrong when you listen to Liz. :)
 
I have to agree to the no leggings thing. While I wouldn't wear them anyway simply due to my girth, what I saw the other night was enough to make me want to ban leggings from every closet in America.

The woman was gorgeous, stunningly so. I'd say she was somewhere between 35-40 years old, but only based on the fact that she had a 17 year old son. (He was arguing that he was old enough to do something...that whole, "But Mom, I'm 17 now. I'm practically an adult...whine, moan, beach, complain.) Anyway, this woman was tall (5'9" or taller...), thin but not emaciated, gorgeous hair mid-way down her back, beautiful features...I hated her on sight. ;) Her outfit, well, it was nice on top. A very pretty sweater in some color my pasty arse could never wear. And her shoes were cute too. Some sort of flat that would never work on my Flinstone Feet. But the pants...oh, the pants!!!! SKIN tight black leggings through which everything was visible, and I do mean everything! Camel toe doesn't even begin to describe what this woman was showing to the world (ok, Wal*Mart). I swear, if you looked heard enough, you could have seen her uterus front the front and her sphincter muscle from the back. Yes, it was THAT bad. I doubt she was aware of it though, which, IMO, only makes it that much worse. I couldn't wheel myself away from her fast enough.

Say no to leggings girls, please.

I'm not stylish in any way. I'm completely vanilla. ANYway...leggings are most definitely a crime against good fashion. Unless you're my DD and two, in which case they are adorable.
 
Yeah, I was the one who pointed out the whole too-old-trying-to-look-young thing in the other thread. :p I am 29 and I feel like leggings are too young for me. This age is really hard to dress, it seems everything is for either a 20 year old or a 40 year old, nothing in between.

For the longest time I tried to be as witty as those girls in my own blog pursuits. Needless to say, I failed miserably and haven't blogged in ages.
 
I just say wear what you like and what you think looks cute and dont worry about what other people think about it. If you think it is cute/fashionable then that is all that matters. I personally wear what is comfortable. I dont really care if it is in fashion or not.
 
I went out to dinner with a friend who just turned 49. Yes FORTY-9. She had on black leggings and a long navy blue with black beads babydoll top (mid-thigh so I guess you could say dress too) plus black patent leather heeled shoes with big bows on the front. She looked absolutely amazing and STUNNING. Of course, she's a millionaire and looks like a model so...there ya go.

Some people can pull it off. Some can not (uh, that would be me).

i think the point was, corey wants a change so we were giving her advice. i strongly believe that fashion and how you carry yourself is important. it helps more with the inside then the outside actually, imo. also, did you know that fashion can be comfy? anyway, just had to stand-up for the non-material fashion forward group out there. :)
