Let's talk calendars again

I had mine done at Vistaprint last year, and while I could customize the grid (ie, adding birthdays, etc), I could not upload my own. Also, the paper was very light and flimsy. I'd like something a little thicker (doesn't have to be cardstock, but heavier than Vistaprint's).

Any suggestions? I'm not TOO fussy about not being able to do my own grids, but it'd be a nice feature.

I was wondering about this too Jaime.. this year I vow to not only purchase the calendars but to actually have them printed.

*ps* Dani are you doing a new calendar this year??? I bought last years and love them!! I never printed the calendars :o but the tops have made fantastic desktops!!

I've printed from Costco for the past few years and they are heavy paper. Walmart does nice ones too! This year I may try MyPicTales as they are having a prmotion on calendars that runs 11/6-12/1

I'm not sure about printing...I'll be keeping my eye on this thread b/c I'm hoping to do some calendars as gifts this year.

oh and I did want to share....A little birdie told me Zoe will have some fabulous calendars of various kinds coming soon.

I did mine through Shutterfly last year and really liked the way they came out. They are printed on a really nice thick stock & then bound at the top, they are much sturdier than a calendar you'd buy at like Walmart. I used Heather Ann's toppers and their grids and just added my dates in. I got 8 calendars total, two I won free in their fall sweepstakes and then I bought 6 codes for free calendars on eBay for under $20, so I ended up with 8 calendars for about the price of 1 plus shipping.

i saw that promotion too from MyPicTales...wondering though if we can upload our own bottoms (hee hee, that sounds funny)...anyone know whether the grid is able to be customized or if you have to use a "canned" template?

I did mine on Shutterfly last year using Shabby Princess calendar toppers, and LOVED them. I also did the ebay codes and got them all fairly inexpensively. The print quality was really good, the cardstock was good and sturdy - it was already bound, and all I had to do was upload toppers. I didn't care much about the grid and can't even remember if that was an option. But I'll be doing it again this year, except using SSD product :)

Thanks peeps, I know where I'll be going!!! I have only gotten November done yet, so it's not like I'm ordering today LOL.

I appreciate all the advice!

I absolutely LOVE my Shutterfly calendars and will be doing them again this year. :)

I have never printed any of my digital stuff. I was thinking about doing calendars as well for some gifts. So....do you just buy the toppers that I've seen here, create them, load them to Shutterfly or do you have to use their layout and load pics?

I've done ours at snapfish in the past and have been really pleased. Of course, I just used their templates and dragged and dropped my pictures in, so this year I'll be checking out the other options since I bought Penny's templates. That reminds me, I really should get started on those since Christmas isn't that far away!

I'm glad you posted this b/c I've been thinking about this as well.

I know for sure that I will never again do business with MPT, so I might check out some of the others you girls suggested. Last year I did custom ones, but they took FOREVERRRRRR. I want something faster this time. :D

I've heard good things about Zazzle. I haven't used them yet (last year's calendar never quite got done...:o ), but I've told myself I WILL do it this year. Time to get scrappin' I guess.

And they do have the option of using your own calendar layout on the bottom.

I've used Mpix.com 2 years in a row and have been SO pleased. Here are a couple of underwelmingly photographed shots from the first ones. Now that I've done them with my own bottoms I'm not sure I'd be thrilled with just white.

Just upload an 8 1/2 x 11 layout and you're good to go. :)
