Let's do something for La

I think we've all read Shawna's updates and know that Lauren Grier is not doing all that well.

I wanted to organize SOMETHING for her. I don't know exactly what but here are the ideas in my head right now:

a "we love you" care package? just little we are thinking of you trinkets? raise money for Gift Certificates for food (whatever grocery store is near her/target )

for when she gets out? maybe a few things for CE like a new video game to keep his mind occupied?

I have created an email address [email protected] and if I get interest over the weekend to help I will start a paypal account that goes directly to that email address so I can then start getting whatever we decide on.

If anyone on her team wants to help and sees this before Shawna's message on your super secret boards please let me know. That person will also get the password to the email/paypal.

I think this is a great idea. I started to fill up my cart at her personal store, but I thought I'd wait and see if we were going to do something collectively. I'm game for whatever.
 
I'd love to help with whatever! Obviously, I want to do whatever I can to help La, but I also think it would be awesome to do something for Ce. They are such a team, and I can only imagine how hard this is on him.
 
I'm in. In case the designers are already doing something.. should we wait and see? I don't want to step on toes.....
 
Hi. I would like to do something too. My DH had a DVT last April and the recovery is slow going. She will probably need some support for at least a couple of months. I hope she has good Drs and that they figure out why she got these in the first place. :(
 
I would like to do something too. She has been my one of my favorite designers and I want to help in some way make things a little easier for her and Ce at this difficult time.
 
Count me in. I especially agree with doing somethign for Ce. He's an awesoem kid and it must be so hard for him :(

I've talked to shawna and this won't step on toes for other plans.
I'll let her explain that. :)
 
I'm in...but I'm not sure exactly what you want us to do. Is it to send money to her through paypal at this email address? Would it be better just to send it to her email address? Is there something else that you're planning on doing with this?
 
Right now I'm tryng to see who wants to but handing the email address over to her is great idea.

I'm using the weekend to get responses and ideas just like that one!

My thoughts were collect $$, buy/send stuff to Ce with a small portion ($50ish for a game and toy) and use the rest to buy a GC to target.
 
Guys, another way to support La is to do a little shopping in her store. I think she would totally appreciate a little extra cash coming in since she has to take some time off for her health.
 
you know what else? this would be an awesome care package.. lets try and raise enough money to get shawna over there.. get her a flight. i bet if we all pitched in we could do it. (i have no idea if this is actually dooable for shawna to leave her own family atm but i know that she needs her bestie right now)
 
Absolutely! I like all the ideas - treats for Ce, money for groceries or anything else she may need, a flight for Shawna....

I am definitely in!

I would love to contribute towards something. Love the send Shawna idea too.

Who is taking care of Ce now?
 
Shawna will stop in later, guys. She is very touched by the idea but we will have to wait and see how that all works.... I know she was waiting to her the latest from La.
 
I have NOT attached the email address to a paypal account yet. I'm waiting to see what exactly we all decide on since in order to get the money out easily, it has to be a verified account, right?? Unless what is there is then transferred to one that is verified.

of course we could just send it all to Shawna, if that is the route we go or to La if we just want to give her money.

The only thing we can't do, if we do it that way is the care package for Ce.

So... if anyone has thoughts on all this -- please let me know.

However, if places like Target/walmart accept paypal so I can order stuff for Ce and not need to withdrawl it to use? that makes things easier.
 
Ideas for Ce: (I'm thinking total frivilous treat)

New video game (about $40) -- assuming of course he has a DS, PSP, wii, PS, Xbox, whatever...
 
I know they have game cube.. but not sure on the others. I don't *think* they have the newer systems.
 
I keep thinking that La is going to have to keep paying bills and stuff even while she's not able to work. If we could get 100 people to buy just one kit from her personal store, that would be $700 of income she'd have. We need a "pay La's bills" campaign to get people shopping!

I shopped her store already, and I'm waiting to see what else we're going to do.
