whoa. now i know why i never watched it til now.

that movie is so freaking sad. in every way possible. i don't do sad movies.

someone please lend me a antidepressant.

also, please post any and all sad ending movies so i can be sure NOT to EVER watch them.

I can so relate, by the way. I don't do sad movies which is why I don't watch what we affectionately call T.I.M.'s -- Terminal Illness Movies.

I love Legends of the Fall. Its been forever since I saw it. Its the reason I love the name Tristan and can't understand how any one can use it on a girl. lol

k. but how can people (in general) love sad movies? help me understand. my hubby can truely enjoy the crappiest ending movie (as can most level-headed people). i cannot seem to justify a happy feeling inside after every possible sad thing has happened in a film. i guess i allow it to touch me too deeply. i have a hard time accepting that it's 'just a movie'. is this my problem?

DUDE...I'm there with you. I hated Legends of the Fall. And Dawn is right - suicidal is how I felt after the English Patient. Ugh! I really don't like those kind of movies.

I stay away from sad movies too! I'm a comedy gal myself! Atonment probably wouldn't be for you either -- I found it quite sad.

Oh my goodness I saw Legends of the Fall 3 times in the movie theater way back when...It was the beginning of my 90's love obsession with Brad Pitt..back when he did that one and Interview with the Vampire and had that beautiful long hair and before he went all Angelina Jolie wacko on us...

Anyway...that's one of my favorite movies ever!

I cry every time I watch Steel Magnolias..not matter how many times I've seen it when Sally Field loses it in the cemetery... bring on the tissues...

Oh and Cold Mountain...sob fest (though the book was way better)

and Charlotte's Web...i remember this being devastating as a child when the spider died

The Blues Brothers movie makes me suicidal. As does Caddyshack.

I totally do not GET those movies. At all. I do not think they are funny. Or clever. Or worth the 99 cents to watch them.

Lizzy did you ever watch Titanic...b/c that has to be the movie that made me cry the worst ever...I even cry watching the Celine Dion video lol

yes, i saw titanic. loved it. cried like a damn baby of course. it ended with the happiest ending possible so i suppose i appreciated the writers for that. legends of the fall left me with nothin'...just old man brad pitt getting eaten by a bear. wth?!

"I cry every time I watch Steel Magnolias..not matter how many times I've seen it when Sally Field loses it in the cemetery... bring on the tissues..."

I am so with you there Nikki...cry like a blubbering idiot every time!!!! I too love Legends of the Fall.....love it to death actually!!!!! It has been on tv a lot lately so I have watched it in parts at least 4 times in the past 2 months!!!

I don't recommend Million Dollar Baby. Here I thought it would be a somewhat uplifting boxing story...yeah not so much. I actually avoid most Academy Award movies now because so many of the newer ones seem to either a) make no sense or b) have a completely tragic ending. I am so not a tragic ending kind of girl. :(

And I think Titanic is different because you know the story ahead of time. You know lives are going to be lost so I felt more like I was ready for it.

Gosh so many movies make me cry.Even happy endings make me cry LOL. Recently though I watched a movie called An American Crime which is based on a true story about two young girls who are living with a woman while their parents tour the country with a traveling carnival. The woman abuses them really badly and eventually kills one of them. Very disturbing movie to see. It just left me feeling really sad and kinda numb. I knew the subject is really tough to see but I was interested in what happened by reading the summary and after watching I just kinda wish I hadnt seen it.

Ohhh! P.S. I Love You!!

That freaking movie was so so sad it made me mad...I mean...I wasn't prepared for it...I was thinking from the previews it was a romantic comedy and then the first 10 minutes in...BAM...as we say in the south...I squawled through the whole thing! :)

oh ladder 49 made me absolutely bawl!! Ummm Armageddon is another when Liv Tyler says goodbye to her father Oh gosh that is so sad. Heck I even cried when Mufasa died in The Lion King which kinda reminds me of the Friends episode where they are talking about Chandler not crying and they say you didnt cry when Bambi's mom died? And Chandler says "Yes it was very sad when the artists stop DRAWING her!!"

And not a movie but I was crying through One Tree HIll after Quentin was shot in the gas station and then Jamie's parents have to tell him about Quentin...so fricking sad :-(

Definitely do not watch Ladder 49. :crying:

I also would not recommend any movies based on books by Nicholas Sparks if you do not like to cry... They ALL make me cry... However, I am addicted to his books so I watch all of the movies with a giant box of tissues right next to me. LOL!!!

They actually showed p.s I love you on a plane ride I was on. I couldn't beleive they would show that kind of movie on a plane! It definitely was just sad and depressing!

Kathi, I was just oging to say not to go see the new one that is in the movie theaters, "Nights in Rodanthe". His books are pretty sad. I think the worst book of his that I just felt so terrible about was "the guardian". I knew the dog was going to die, but I sobbed anyway. It was so sad.

City of Angels is a tear jerker too. Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan. I won't watch it again because of the terribly sad ending.

Ooh I agree with most of the movies here.
I love Legends of the Fall though. I'll put myself through the depression to watch it.
Titanic had me practically hyperventilating. I haven't cried ever...as hard as I did with that movie. It even made DH cry and he never ever cries at movies. EVER.
And dont watch these (I'll just list a bunch because I don't know what you've seen):

Braveheart
Beaches
The Fox and the Hound (Disney) - lol...but you know its sad
The Joy Luck Club
The Crow
Fried Green Tomatoes
The Green Mile
My Girl
The Notebook - duh!
Man in the Moon
Untamed Heart
The House of Sand and Fog
Philadelphia
Mask (not THE Mask) lol

Oh, The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher-sososo good, but I cry everytime I see it!! I'll watch it over and over tho, because I love it!
Where the Red Fern Grows- LOVE it, always been one of my favorites, and I cry like a baby every time over those darn dogs.
There's some other movies I love that make me cry uncontrolably, but I can't think of all of them right now! But, I did like Legends of the Fall!

Oh Legend of the Fall is one of my favorite movies ever!! It was one of the very first movies my DH and I saw together at the movie theatre back when we started dating in 1994. We both instantly fell in love with the name Tristan and always said that if we ever had a son that would be part of his name, so we now have a Kyle Tristan!! It is very sad but I could watch it over and over again!

I like sad movies if they are good movies. I just don't mind sad endings if it makes sense to be that way. 8 Seconds makes me bawl. Oh and Philadelphia, both older, but I have watched them both a ton of times and bawl every single time.
