Leapster Explorer vs. Leapster 2

I think the major difference is that the Explorer can play videos and ebooks. I've also seen an attachment at Target to turn it into a camera and use the photos in learning games. My kids already have Leapsters, but if I were buying now I'd get the Leapster Explorer. Considering how much you invest in games, recharging battery packs, cases, etc. the extra money on the console is probably worth it for something that can do more.

ok..here are my thoughts...My DD (soon to be 5) has a Leapster 2 and her little brother (3) LOVES to play it...well I went and bought him the Leapster Explorer to only find out the games are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE! So if you already have a Leapster and get the Explorer, remember you have to buy ALL NEW games for the Explorer!!! So I took the Explorer back and he is getting a regular Leapster for XMAS so him and his sister can share their games :) Also the games for the Explorer are VERY TINY! So that is another thought to keep in mind :)

Is the Leapster 2 a touch screen as well? We just bought a Leapster Explorer for the boys to share and like it so far. I figured that all the new games would come out for the new one so we'd be better off in the long run with the newer version.

We don't have anything right now. I think DS may be getting a DS, but DD can't handle that yet...trust me! :D I think the Explorer sounds perfect for her! We mainly need it for car trips, as we're traveling more and more lately and the car DVD broke...grrrrrr! Thanks for the tips!
