Oy vey!! It actually turned into an ordeal (well for me, anyway!!). They did let me use the jellybeans which I am fully convinced that that is what kept me from getting sick!! It's hard work eating 36 jellybeans in such a short amount of time - I actually broke a sweat, LOL!! The results: My fasting number was a little high - I don't put THAT much stock in these numbers being a little high because a variety of factors can play a role in the number. My one hour and 2 hour were completely normal and my 3 hour - get this - was supposed to be 140 or below. Mine was 143. They called me and told me that I have GD. I was shocked. Also a little upset. One because they weren't going to offer me my numbers, I had to ask. They just expected me to meet with a dietitian and an educator the very next day and start pricking my finger 4 times a day. Yup. I was UPSET because I wasn't even going to get a chance to talk to my doctor about it before they had me doing that. So I didn't go. I waited a couple of days for my appointment and did TONS of research on the topic. More than was probably necessary. I told my doctor my concerns about the stress that all of this was putting on me AND the baby and told her I felt that with numbers that low that I didn't think it was worth it to go to such extreme measures. I have been eating right - still not having sugar and cutting back on carbs. I've now gained a total of 3 pounds, so I didn't think there was that much risk. You know what? She agreed with me. She said she respected my decision and that they would continue to monitor my urine and stuff at appointments and I have an ultrasound coming up to make sure the baby is okay. I know this turned out long, but it was quite the situation for me!! While scary, it actually felt really good to stand up for myself and let the doctor know that I didn't necessarily agree with their method of treatment. I also should add that I refused only because my number was just 3 points higher than it should have been. Had it been more like 8 or 10, I would have considered it more strongly, ya know? Thanks for asking girl!! I hope you have really good luck with your test on Monday!! I'll be thinking of you!!

ya'll got to eat jelly beans for your glucose test?? WOW! Is that just for the 3 hour test? My son is 8 weeks old and when I did my one hour, I wasn't given that option.

*ps* Sorry to hear the test didn't go so well. Good for you for standing your ground and doing what you feel is best for you!

They did let me eat jellybeans for the 3 hour only because I had a bad situation during my last pregnancy and the 3 hour....I had to do it twice because the glucola made me sick. I had to drink the stuff for the one hour and had a hard time getting that down!!

Wow..good for you! I can totally understand why you'd not want to go through all that with it only 3 points over...I'm glad you have a doc who will actually listen to you concerns..I'm not so sure mine would.

They won't let me do the jelly beans...so I have to drink the funky junk. I'm so ready to get it overwith...I'm so afraid I'm going to get sick drinking all that stuff on an empty stomach. Right now I have to eat as soon as I get up b/c if I don't I start to feel kind of sick...it's going to be a looong morning for sure.
