laminate flooring on stairs?

Do you have it on your stairs - would you do it again? We are doing our floors and purchased flooring for our stairways and landing but now we are 2nd guessing and wondering if we should go with something else for this area for safety reasons etc.. stairs are hazardous enough themselves so I worry about the slippery factor with laminate. TIA :)

When my mom had her house redone (it was gutted after a flood), she had hardwood put in upstairs and laminate downstairs. The guys recommended doing vinyl flooring on the stairs just because the laminate can separate and be a pain. She went with that, and it actually looked nice.

Our old house had laminate flooring on both sets of stairs. I prefer carpet anyway, but it wasn't too bad looking. In this house we have solid wood runners which is almost the same no?

we have original wood stairs going upstairs and downstairs. The ones to the basement used to have carpet on them but it was ripped up, and they are supposed to be putting new carpet on them (still waiting on that).
The stairs to the top floor can be slippery on socked feet.
I would prefer them to be carpeted, but it is really easy to clean them right now (I don't have to use my vacuum for anything in my house).

because of allergies and asthma we went with hardwood for our stairs and got rid of the carpet... the rest of the house except the lower level was hardwood so we decided the hallway and stairs should be hardwood too. I grew up with hardwood stairs and yeah they're slippery but the kids are pretty cautious even at their young age.

ours are wood too just b/c we have wood on the upstairs and dowstairs that they connect and I wanted them to look the same...that said they are slippery and my kids know to hold on the rail and be very very careful..our dog did fall down them once

I want to get a carpet runner for them..I know they make them but I haven't been able to find one I like a lot. I need to do that though

I love my hardwood stairs, but I am very prone to falling down the stairs...don't fall anywhere else, but stairs are my nemesis, so we've put anti-slip strips on ours and no accidents for a couple of years now. They have stupid vacuums here so carpet with 5 shedding animals in the house is a no go.

I have carpeted stairs and cleaning them is a PAIN. Definitely don't go that route! I love meg's idea - put up a runner ifyou're worried about kids.

None of which actually answers your original question though...:p
