Kindle/Amazon Question

NSBR: Kindle/Amazon Question

I can't remember if I asked this over the summer or not...damn memory!

We have 3 Kindles in our house...one is mine and each of the girls have one. Is it possible to block certain books from downloading onto their Kindles? I definitely don't want them reading some of the books I have in my account. :o

My daughter is on my account. I just download books to her kindle for her. I tell her that she needs my permission before adding anything. It works for us, but then again, she's only 10.
 
only by having them set to separate accounts otherwise they have access to everything in your acct... or so I was told... they should change that
 
yeah all books can be accessed by all kindles onthe account.

so now that Dh has my old kindle he can not only see the number of books I have bought he can also see what they are. :eek:
 
I agree, it's a bummer that you have to have separate accounts to limit what the kids see. We have 3 Kindles and because the Prime membership is under my name, I just keep the kids on my account so they can access free streaming of movies.

On the old Kindles you can remove books from the device, but on the Kindle Fire they show up under the cloud.
 
Depends what kind of Kindles you have. If theirs are e-ink Kindles, then the only choices are to get them their own account or to disconnect their Kindles from the wireless router (remove the password, and reenter it manually when you want to add content). If they have a Fire, you may be able to use Kindle Free Time to control what they have access to.

So far I'm the only Kindle user in our house, but we've going to be getting a Fire for DS's birthday in a few months. I'm still deciding whether to get DS his own account for it, but I'm leaning toward keeping him on mine since we'll be using Kindle Free Time. I wish they'd figure out a better way for family members to share an account!
 
Is there a way to remove a book you don't want your kids to see from the cloud? My DH is having that issue. He doesn't want graphic books to be accessible to the kids if they happen to pick up his Kindle. The rest of us have Nooks and we primarily use library e-books versus buying books.
 
We have two accounts. I wish they would develop a "hidden" folder so we could all share one account.

Juli - I don't know. Maybe you can deleted from manage my Kindle at Amazon?
 
I believe if you delete from "manage my Kindle" within Amazon, it's gone from your entire account, never to be downloaded again.
 
If I weren't bound by the Amazon Prime membership, I would totally set up separate accounts ... other than that, I'm not really sure what the benefits are to having everything on the same account. Am I missing something?
 
Does anyone know this... if I set up a separate acct for my girls to share, would I be able to transfer their stuff from my acct to the new one? I'm guessing not? WHY is this so difficult? lol You'd think, with as popular they are, they'd find a way to address this issue.
