kinda sad this year

My kids have decided they are all to old for easter egg hunts and easter baskets :-( (they are 17, 15 and 11 almost 12) I loved coloring the eggs and the hunt. It was always one of my favorite holiday traditions. We never did huge baskets but we would get something small and usually have a bbq at the park and come home and do the easter egg hunt. I dont think that the youngest at least is to old for it. My niece is coming over next week though and we can probably have an early easter egg hunt I suppose.

It is just another one of those things that you know will eventually happen but you just hope to prolong it as long as you can.

Aww!! That is a sad day! We did Easter egg hunts until we were about 17....just because our grandpa hid money in the eggs LOL

I had one of those issues this week...My son (5) decided that his sandwiches dont need to be cut in half any more.....................

My baby is growing too fast!!!!!
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

I always think we're getting to that point and then they surprise me. My youngest (who is 9) lost a tooth earlier this week. She and her 13 year old sister had a big fight about where the best place would be to put the tooth for the tooth fairy. That night I looked at my dh and said, "I guess they both still believe."

I have two nieces, the youngest is just 2 1/2, so as long as we're with our extended family, we'll still be doing the holiday stuff -- Easter bunny, Santa Claus, etc. The kids have never said they don't believe and when my oldest (15) hinted at it, I reminded him that if you don't believe, you don't get the gifts. He's never said another word. He'll probably be 35 and I'll still be playing Santa....

I don't think it is possible to be too old to color eggs and have a hunt. My sister and I both still color eggs at my mom's house every year. :) Granted I do have little ones now but we still went over before I had kids! Its just something fun to do with family!

Yep, no coloring eggs for us this year and the boys opted for a PS3 game instead of a basket. I told them if we weren't doing baskets or coloring eggs I wasnt spending 2 hours filling eggs and hiding them either! LOL!

We will be with my niece and nephew this year, although we both have to fly home on Easter morning, so we will be doing everything on Saturday. I plan to spend the day coloring them with them...and i know my 17 and 21 year old boys will be right there...and then they get to hide them for the younger ones!! (they like to hunt for them too though, so we'll see). If we have them hunt as well, we hide some easier ones for the little kids (and they are NOT allowed to touch them) and then we'll climb trees to hide the other ones!! We have to be careful that they squirrels don't get them before they do though!!

That is sad!! I was colouring eggs with my brother and my dad right up until I got married and moved out (five years ago! - I'm 28!) We didn't normally do the egg hunt, but we always got Easter basket presents. :)
Someday -grandkids. Just do the eggs for you this year. Decoupage pretty scrapbook papers to them. :)

I am expected to participate in my family's egg hunt (meaning first my grandparents & then my mom & aunt) and I get an Easter basket.

And I am 41! Even when I was in my 20's & early 30's, before I had kids. I dyed eggs and then hunted for the plastic ones. Fighting the little ones for the blue ones that had the cash in them.:) But I have loads of younger cousins, so any hint that I might not want to join in was firmly squashed by people telling me to do it for the little kids.

I am not sure when exactly I will be considered old enough to run the thing myself.

Stacey you should have a talk with my kidss then LOL. Im ok with them not wanting an easter basket but the egg hunt is fun and so is coloring egss!! I should just tell em they gotta do it LOL
