Just sick...

OMG.... my camera bag fell out of the back of my car the other night and now my 28-80 lens is broke!!! I use this lens ALL of the time!!! AAACCCKKK!!!! Thank God my camera is still working and I have my 70-300 lens but that doesn't do me much good unless I'm outside or at a long distance. :(

I so did not need this right now. DH told me to go buy the 50mm that I've been looking at but we really don't have the money right now and I liked my 28-80 a lot!!! :crying: I'm just sick to my stomach over this!

Im so sorry...only thing I can suggest is to check craigs list everyday. Alot of times you can find some awesome deals on there. Im always soooo paranoid about my camera. What scares me the most if we are going to go somewhere crowded and some idiot isnt gonna be watching where he/she is going to run into me and make me drop my camera or make me fall or something. Ive had it happen once at sea world but I was not carrying my good camera thankfully

Thanks girls! Has anyone bought used from BH Photo?

They have a used
Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Lens for $89

but then I'm looking at this one too:
Nikon Normal AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D Autofocus Lens for $105

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE WELCOME!!!

Oh no - so sorry to hear about your lens!

I've bought from B&H and they are a good company. You might also check out this site - I've bought used from the members on here. There is a forum just for sales. ilovephotography.com

oh, geez, I'd be sick, too
I'm so sorry, kat, i totally know what it feels like to hate spending money because of an accident. (i'm a huge freakin' clutz)

=(

I've bought from B&H, but it was new, not used. I was THRILLED with their service though.

I am so sorry, Tony's auto focus broke on one of his lenses that he uses all the time, and he's totally annoyed. ((hugs))

aaack.. did you watch it fall in slow motion. When things like this happen to me I feel like it all happens in slow motion and I can't move to change it. I'm sorry to hear about your lens.. hopefully you'll get a replacement soon!!

Kat do you shoot at the lower end of your 28-80? Like on the 28 end? If you do, I'd go with the 18-55. It's the kit lens and isn't awful, but the 50 is difficult to shoot indoors if you have small spaces. Not as bad as the 70mm, obviously, but it can be difficult.

Actually, I just hopped on B&H (really great store to buy gear through) and they have a Tamron 28-80mm for $59.95. So maybe just replace it?

aaack.. did you watch it fall in slow motion.

Yep.... sure did. And then I went into denial and told myself it would be fine and didn't check my camera right then and there... :(

Thanks for the links girls! I may just be able to replace it or get something similar from what it looks like!
