Journaling on busy backgrounds.

I use those things Julie Released. The color wash things. Not on the computer, so I don't know the exact name

I use paint:

Or I change the font color to one that stands out:

Or use Julie's Paint Wash:

Or I journal directly on it - and use the pattern as a guide:

That's what I've done :)

here's some of mine. I have a passion for busy backgrounds and lots o' journaling.

I really like using paper strips

when it's something I don't REALLY want people to read, I just chuck it on there

a little journaling card

and lastly...I just make the font dark enough so you can see it LOL

I will often type my journaling and then select it with a feather of like 20 px and then on a new layer below I put a shape with the background color and lower the opacity until I like the look.

Um...it turns out I don't really journal right on busy backgrounds.

The last time I even journaled right on a patterned background was this one back in March and even it is not super busy:

oh! And I guess I used paint, too.

I rarely journal right on a busy paper, but if I do, I use paint underneath it so it stands out. I also add a journal card or tuck it on a plain piece of paper.

Sometimes I make all or part of the background lighter by overlaying another paper on it.

Other times I just make my sentiment really big. Like, title-sized big. And I throw in some WA as part of my journaling to make it stand out more.

I'm also with others who journal on a card or on top of paint, and make sure I'm adding as much contrast as I can.

Wow these pages are all gorgeous! I sure loved seeing them all and get some ideas - thanks for sharing!!

I avoid the background and journal on a photo:

or a journal card:

or a paper strip:

or lots of paper strips:

But if I want to go right on the busy paper, I'll find a less busy part to journal on:

or I put a glow or stroke on the text (I know it doesn't look like much, but at full-size I swear this is totally legible! I am way too anal to make it not be, ha!)

I've also used blends, paints, and masks but I don't have any examples to show off. Maybe soon. ;)

I use paint a lot as well.

On this one I think I just made a white rectangle in my scrapping software (I may have used white paper not 100% certain) and then just made it a bit transparent so that the pattern shows through just a little bit.

lol!!!

Yes, I use paint sometimes to journal on busy backgrounds, or I work the journaling in with the background design. I also will use a slight stroke light Lorry.
