In case you ladies didn't know, you can get the student discount if you have kids in school. That may make CS a little more in reach.
 
Oh I've been doing this with the smudge tool on my paper shadows (when I feel like taking the time, lol) - this is so much faster! Thanks Jacinda! :D
 
What a great tutorial. Can't wait to try! Thanks, Jacinda. And thanks to Rachel for having pointed it out! I've missed the last 3 tutorials, no idea how, I keep checking them every week (well, obviously I forgot to recently). :-)
 
You know, when I was writing the tutorial, I was hoping you all wouldn't think it was too basic. I kept thinking maybe I was writing about something everyone knew already.
 
I like it. I normally do the edit>transform>warp and push and pull on the shadow layer. But using the distort>wave makes it abit quicker.

Not too basic at all! I play with the shadows on my ellies, but never really with the ones on my papers - and it obviously makes a huge difference. And the fact that it's easy-peasy is even better. Thanks for the tip!
 
Hey girls, you can easily get the same effect in PSE! Michellefilo wrote a tutorial for it in that digi scrapping magazine a few years ago. All you do is select your paper layer (marching ants) and create a blank layer underneath it. Fill in the blank layer with your shadow color (black, gray, dark brown, whatever). Give it a Gaussian blur (however big you like the blur) and then go to Filter->Distort->Wave. Your settings should be
Wavelength: min 1 max 999
Amplitude: min 1 max 5-7 (adjust to taste)
Does that make sense? It has the same effect with half the cost. ; )
