it's the one thing I obsess over...

What's the one thing you spend waaaaaaayyyy too much time on when doing a layout?

For me, it's a background paper. I could try every paper in the pack and change them 25 times and STILL not be happy.

It's a problem.

really.

Moving elements around. I spend ages doing that, and really, does a millimetre here or there make a difference to the end result... probably not!

Paper for me too. I LOVE busy patterned paper but I find it hard to use them on my pages for background paper without a neutral/plain mat. I almost always try out ALL the patterned paper from a kit :D I also sometimes spend way too much time on moving the photo(s) because I can't decide where exactly I like it better :)

OMG, paper for me too. It's because I feel like I should use more patterned papers but it almost never looks right, so I almost always go back to a solid bg.

< Spongebob narrator > 2 years later... goes with original paper.

I also spend forever lining things up perfectly. I even double-check and correct designer templates.

I really can't pinpoint just one thing that takes me the longest; I just know that I've never been and probably never will be someone who can scrap a page in less than two hours. I just fuss and nitpick over every little detail because I'm such a perfectionist. I'm envious of fast scrappers!

The title always gets me!!! So, I usually skip it or use word art. :p

I also do a lot of switching papers around.

i dont now anything that takes the longest but i have a bad habbit , when i almost finish a page and i don't like it i just delete it don't tosh things around no delete the complete page

^^^ What Brook said.

Titles are my nemesis... I love making them, but coming up with them not so much, so I tend to skip it and use wordart or a card with a good phrase that can double as my title.

I VERY RARELY finish a page with the papers I started with. I will pick a paper I LOVE and build on that, and by the end I end up switching it out (even though it was the inspiration for the whole layout lol)

Clusters, I'm really bad at cluster so I move the flowers, leaves and anything else I make into clusters, around much just so it would look realistic. Also the journaling. Sometimes I already wrote one and then I edit it a couple of times just so it wouldn't look like I was drunk or something :p

I usually have a hard time finding a template I like. I try to cram as many photos in there as I can usually. So it is hard to find two page templates that have the photo spots in the orientation needed. lol! I tend to take photos in landscape rather than portrait and a lot of the time, I cannot crop them to be portrait oriented.

I also have a lot of trouble with titles. I always feel like they should have clusters or something around them.

For me it's brushwork and paint/splats/overlays. I will keep moving them around, keep changing the color and then the blend modes. I can just keep going and going, and then finally have to tell myself "enough"...just save it and be done.

I just thought of one more thing I obsess about....resizing. I can't tell you how many times I use CTRL + T when creating a page.

For me it's the getting started stuff. Choosing which photo(s) and the template, the kit if it's not a CT page. After I finally make all those decisions, the rest of the layout comes together quickly. (But I'll admit that to me "quickly" means 2+ hours.)

Papers here, too. Especially if a template has a lot of them - I tend to try one after another on all those layers!

Papers for me too, I find myself wanting to use ALL of 'em when I know darned well I can't....drives me insane!!

Papers are my fave. Clustering on the other hand drives me nuts. :D

But what I really obsessed over is templates. Everyone says they're faster but I swear it takes me three times as long because I'm trying to blend the designer's style with my own. This is also why I don't design templates anymore. :D

Oh my heavens! Definitely background papers and titles for me as well! I do not like coming up with titles, so I LOVE it when our designers include big word art I can use. I will look at the word art and then pick pictures to use for the kit based solely on the word art sometimes. LOL.

And this is why I rarely use templates! If I do, I often strip nearly all the elements and some paper strips/blocks, etc out of them!

Papers are what get me all the time...I love layers but the deciding on what papers to use for all those layers gets me all the time!

I'm glad to hear others struggle with all those paper layers. Your layouts are beautiful and you make it look so effortless!

This is me. :)

I started skipping the title when it just became more annoying to think of one. I love when there's some word art, word strip or a journal card that can take its place.

THIS! Whatsmore, I just can't take a template, open it, fill in all the "blanks" and call a page my own.
Sometimes, however, there's those elaborate templates which I really LOVE because they save so much time but even then, I twist them a bit ;)

Probably background paper for me too. I start off with a nice neutral one then swap it for all the patterned ones until I find one which fits! It can take a while sometimes :D
