I can't believe it. My ancient horrible broken down washing machine FINALLY DIED!!!! YEAH!!!!! The bad news is I have a pile of laundry in the basement and guests coming in a week...so I have to act fast.

I want to get a new front loading washing machine. I have been looking at the Electrolux and the LG. Can anyone give me any good recommendations or warnings?

Thanks!
Susan

NO experience with front loaders but we have the super capacity top loading Whirlpool Cabrio and love it - it's a high efficiency washer without an agitator and it works awesome!

Sadly, mine refuses to die so I can't have a new one. :( However, a vacation house we stayed in this summer had the Electrolux and it was great. It was sooooooo quick and I just loved it.

Personally I know nothing of the front loaders, but I've heard that the stands that you can get for them are awful. Now, I don't know for sure because I don't personally have one, but a friend of mine had said that she has the stands and they cause her machines to "walk" all over the room and they make the machines so much noisier...

Maybe someone else can shed some light here, lol!

I LOVE my LG!!! I didn't get the pedestal because I use the top of the machines to fold and sort the clean laundry. I adore the steam wash options. All my towels are done on the highest setting and OMG, they have never been so clean before.

Good luck!

I have Fisher & Pakyel washer & dryer and I LOVE it to the ends of the earth, not sure if they make a front loader but they are a tad bit cheaper than the LG & Electrolux and work just as well. Worth EVERY penny!!!

yep, i have the same washer/dryer set as samara and i heart them! they was so much clothes at a time and the dryer dries really really fast! LG makes really good appliances. i'm sure those electrolux are good too, i'm always leary though, with a newer company.

I do not have either of these but I saw on the news the other day that there are alot of cvomplaints against LG for the front loading washers because of mildew forming and causing problems (stains and odors) and the people have filed complaints and do not seem to be getting anywhere. Im not sure if that is just with one certain type of LG front loader or all but hopefully whichever you choose youll get some great adivece and get tghem quickly so you can get your clothes done before company comes.

I faithfully leave the washer open at least once a week to let it air out. I also do the "tub clean" with a cup of bleach once a month. So far, so good.

I have the pedestals and I love them. I use them for odd socks, one section for each person. Makes it much easier to put them back together when we run out of clean pairs. LOL

(I have the Duet ones)

Thanks for all the tips. Turns out it was nothing but a damn fuse that broke. So, I am still stuck with this old-ass washer. But hubby says we'll start looking after the new year.

We bought the LG ones a few months ago (smaller capacity since there are only 3 of us) and I LOVE them! No problems with odor or mildew if you follow the instructions.
