Alrighty.... I loooooove salsa. Mmmmmm. But I HATE bottled stuff... it is revolting that people call THAT salsa. It's a disgrace. :glare: :D I live in southern AZ, so I KNOW good salsa. So, I need an awesome recipe so I can make my own! I love chunky salsa... but with a little spice to it! Hit me!

Well, I just use my food processor with fresh tomatoes, jalapenos or serranos, lots of onion, garlic to suit and cilantro. A little bit of salt and lime juice (no, we're not talking about tequila shots here) and my entire family loves it. Let us know if you come across something really fabulous, because I love homemade salsa.

Oh! And if you like a roasted tomato salsa, try googling the Chevy's salsa recipe. I've had that at a friend's house and it was mmmm mmmm good.

Hmm, I've never made salsa so I don't have any advice but I could direct you to my SILs recipe or give you another recipe for stuff that's isn't really salsa, more like a bean/corn dip but it is the yummiest and the best "snack" except for the bad breath you have afterwards. :) We always make it for parties and such.

Apparently my cousin makes REALLY good salsa...every grandkid got a jar of salsa she made from my grandpa's tomatoes at his funeral - I don't eat salsa but DH ate it and said it was the best he'd ever had. I could ask her for the recipe...

My favorite salsa ever is mine. ;) I don't really follow a recipe, I just mix up tomatoes, green chilies, onions, a little lime, salt, pepper, cilantro, and a little fajita seasoning. I put 1/2 of it in the blender to make it thicker, then mix with the other 1/2. Yum!

hahaha! You sound like my BFF. She makes the best enchiladas in the universe, and it's her mom's recipe and she can't give it out. Grrr!

ya. false. *MY* moms enchiladas are the best. :D:D:D

i get to taste all of the yumminess on friday. my mom is cooking a huge mexican fiesta for all the pastors at our church. they request it every year. :D

I just posted my recipe on my blog last week. I don't know it off the top of my head and I can't link it up because I'm at work. Just look under recipes.

Nope. I just don't believe it, sorry. :D. This recipe is straight from Mexico. You just can't beat it. ;)

OH. MY. GOSH!!! This looks AMAZING!!!! I am so getting the stuff to make this when I get groceries on Friday!
ETA: Oh, and how much does this make?

No, I'm pretty sure my grandpa makes the all time best salsa around! ;) He doen't follow a recipe tho- it's more of "add some of this, a dash of that... oh and don't forget a little of this." kind of thing. He does add a little celery seed and some tomatillos to the usual ingredients. But I think his main secret is that he grows most of the ingredients in his garden so it's all yummy homegrown goods.

My good friend from Tucson makes this salsa that is so yummy and so easy because it uses canned tomatoes. It really is good stuff:

1 28 oz. can Hunt's whole tomatoes
6 green onions, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 7 oz. can diced green chiles
1 heaping Tbsp. diced jalapenos
Salt, pepper, and garlic powder, to taste

Juice green onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder and jalapeno’s in a blender. (The salt, pepper and garlic powder are however much you desire. If you like your salsa hotter, add more pepper.) Then pour tomatoes and green chiles in the blender. Hit the blender button twice fast (this keeps the salsa chunky. If you don’t like your salsa chunky, then blend it for a little bit longer.) Enjoy!!!

My mom and sister concocted some weird recipe... tomatoes, onion, cucumber, cilantro, and then lime juice and salt to taste. It's weird but SO freaking good. My kiddos even wolfed it down and they hate raw onion.

Now I want salsa really badly *drool*
