I love pulled pork but Ive never made it before and dont want to waste the money on the meat and then not have a really good recipe to make. Anyone have one?

Honestly? Crockpot+coke or dr pepper (dark, non diet soda), some garlic and onion powders, and let it go to town for 6-8 hrs. Once done, almost any bbq sauce will work on it and taste great, though we use a specialty one from a bbq place we love. It's the easiest thing ever. shred once cooled a bit

If you like it, a dash of liquid smoke works wonders, but DH doesn't like it.

I use the crock pot too. Pork Picnic (or shoulder) with Spanish Mojo sauce plus a whopping tablespoon of minced garlic from a jar, 1-2 thinly sliced onions, a cup of water to bring liquid level over the pork and two shakes of Liquid Smoke. Let it cook for 8-10 hours, shred and let it sit in the liquid for about 30 miutes and then add BBQ sauce and serve on buns - yum!

Don't use the Goya Bitter Orange Mojo sauce though. Look in the spanish section at Wal-Mart for Mojo (it comes in a bottle and is a yellowish green).

Good luck!

LOL! I just made some tonight. Get at Walmart or wherever. Add brown sugar, ketchup, and red vinegar. Cook in crockpot 8 hours on low....that's it!

So easy I can do it!

I have the williams sonoma recipe for the slow cooker and I have made it several times and everyone loves it! PM me if you are interested.

My friend's is the absolute yummiest I have ever had ... I make it constantly ... with either pork chops or chicken breasts ... put in a crockpot on low all day long NO WATER...just salt & pepper. When you get home ... shred the meat up with a couple of forks ... and add 1/2 KC Masterpiece HICKORY BBQ Sauce and 1/2 Kraft HONEY BBQ Sauce.

The combo of those two are awesome!!!

Exactly what we do! (well, never dr. pepper...ew! lol :p ) But, yes, it's amazing & SO tender!!

Darn it! Now I wish I got pork at the store today... this is making me hungry! :)

We just roast the pork in the crockpot with just onion powder, garlic powder, and a dash of celery seeds... then for pulled, use our favorite BBQ sauce.

Here is our recipe:
4 pounds boneless pork shoulder
1 onion, sliced in rings
24 oz bottle of ketchup
1/2 cup warm water
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt to taste

The Directions.

Use a 6 quart crockpot. Trim meat, and place into your crockpot. Add sliced onion. Squeeze in 2 cups of ketchup, and then pour 1/2 cup warm water into the ketchup bottle and shake. Pour the ketchup-y water into your crock. Add vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire and salt.
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until meat shreds easily with a fork.
Serve over rice or make sandwiches on rolls.

I made this yesterday!! We do crockpot too 8 hrs. Seasoned of course. Shred it and add Famous Dave's Sweet & Zesty BBQ and some Pepsi!!

This is what Adam does too and it is seriously AMAZING. Just a little kosher salt and some pepper, no water in the crockpot. It comes out so tasty and juicy that it doesn't even really need BBQ sauce - it's that good.

hahaha I'm cracking up that so many of you like the soda/meat thing because I can't stand it. I've tried a pot roast, pork, and steak with soda (either cooked in or used as a marinade), and I just don't like it at all.

Now, my daughter, on the other hand, LOVES it. It's just so funny how we all have such different tastes.

soooo ummmm I have like 6 very large porkchops {bone in} so how could I use them to make pulled pork.... Never tried it...do I cut all the meat off the bone and trim the fat and then do one of the above recipes? Somebody hook me up with some teaching :)

I personally think pulled pork is better with a roast or shoulder vs porkchops..I'd bake them and have like a butter noodle or mashed potatoes or something with them instead :)

I use a can of coke when I bake a ham..just put the ham in foil in a pan, pour a can of coke and bake..it's so good b/c the coke caramelizes and really brings out the ham flavor.

I have a roast and shoulder but my family doesn't really like pork chops so much so if I could make them into pulled pork that would be awesome....if anyone has done it can you give me some suggestions?

Angie, for pork chops, I do them in the crock pot with a couple cans of cream of mushroom soup and serve them over egg noodles. I mix a little dallop of sour cream in with the sauce right before I serve them, so it's sorta like a stroganoff.

I prefer boneless chops but I've done it with bone in when it's all I've had on hand. I just cooked them bone in and then pulled them off the meat before serving.

I realize that's not what you're asking, but apparently I have a lot to say about pork today.
