Is this illegal in the digi world??

So I'm not sure if what i'm asking is illegal or not and I don't want to do anything "illegal" or even "rude" so, here is my question...

It it illegal for me to ask someone to send me the folder preview of a kit? I have a few kits that, for some reason a long time ago, I deleted the folder previews. And its really annoying to not be able to see the whole kit on the outside of the folder. And I was thinking that someone who also owned the kit could send me just the folder preview.
Is there anything illegal about it? I know there is all sorts of stuff about file sharing, so I want to check.

P.S. This is my OCD side coming out that I have to have these folder previews. Its seriously driving me crazy!!

I can't see how that would be illegal... its not like you are going to be doing anything with the preview but using it for previewing, lol! I would say you are safe!

I'm like you, I NEED the previews for viewing. I don't think there is anything wrong with asking someone for the preview. I have done as Julie suggested - copied it from the store's listing. You could also contact the designer (check the read me or TOU file) and ask them to email it to you if it is no longer in the store. :)

The previews make my life complete. I rename them "FOLDER" and then everything shows up all pretty when I'm searching for inspiration. :)

I just started naming my previews in my products with "folder" because of a few people's requests on a thread at DST. :D

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking a designer for them...but I think that right clicking and saving is probably the quickest way.

LOL, Mikkel...it's funny how that is. Some use Windows Explorer to view their files, so "folder" works for them. But it doesn't do anything other than make a big mess in a "preview" category in any organization software (because it doesn't actually tell you any info - ie, designer or kit name), and it doesn't work on Macs. All personal preference, though.

If a designer names theirs "folder" I go in and rename them to "designername-kitname"...

:D even better.. I alternate btwn the two lmao cause I never remember which way I want to name the files :D :D :D

Glad that angel there got you most of the previews Jenny ;)

I was just wondering something because I deleted all of my previews, but if you still have the ZIP file, couldn't you just open up the ZIP and just unzip the one preview file? In my unzipping program I can choose what to unzip and what to leave if I don't want to do the whole file... Just a thought!

I kept my zips for the LONGEST time. But I finally just deleted them and backed up to my EHD. I shudder to think of the space all my zips would take up, lol.

BUT. It is a good idea. :)

Really? You delete your ZIP files??? That scares me, lol! I just FINALLY deleted some stuff I knew I would never use, but I am not brave enough to delete my zip files!!

Which 2 do you need? Maybe someone here can help!

She needs Sunshine & Lollipops/Christy Lyle. The other one was the Candy Wrappers mini by Sara Amarie, but I don't think there was a preview file for that kit, because I don't have a preview either.

I only keep my zips for a couple months before deleting...just in case they didn't unzip properly or something and missed a couple files. But I don't keep them around for long, usually...

Here ya go then :)

Sunshine and Lollipops!

I always delete my zips after I open the files too. And I have deleted things I knew I would never use too.
