Heehee, that is a lot of fonts! I tend to use the same 10 - 20 over and over too, so I know what you mean. Now that I have my own font for Darcy, I could pretty much clear out the rest!
Call me a font freak: my font folder currently holds 1773 fonts, not counting the six pack Darcy released yesterday. I didn't install those yet.. And I use just a few of those bunch.
I have over 2000 installed on my system and a folder of 6000 that I bought because they were all good for CU. That folder I don't open much, but yeah...I love fonts. LOL
nahhhhhhhhhhh you're a newb. HA HA HA I have a couple thousand...but since I have my new computer I hadn't installed any except Darcy's...just got a font manager so guess I will see if I can FIND those fonts on my restored drive...
...but I use Darcy's fonts 99% of the time...quality shows! lol
I have to second what Jennifer said, having all those fonts actually installed is a serious system bogger. Having a font manager that allows for temporary installation really is the best way to go.
A font manager is a program that you can use to browse through you many, many fonts. I use The Font Thing. It allows me to organize my fonts into folders that I make, such as scripts, favorites, chunky, thin, etc. I really love that I can type in my sentence and just browse through my fonts and pick which one will look best on my layout. It saves me lots of time!
I haven't gotten the Font Thing to work correctly with Vista and completely removed it from my computer. It worked with XP just fine. I've been using Font Xplorer (it's not as good at TFT IMHO).
I think I have about 2,000 fonts, but I uninstalled most of them since they were really slowing things down, lol.
I lost a lot of fonts when my computer recently went down, check out this article at TDD if your fonts are slowing things down. http://thedailydigi.com/font-organization/
