I don't think middle names is weird. Especially since it's a family name. Now first names on the other hand....that's another story. It drives me crazy that my neice was named Emily a year after I named my daughter Emery. I can't imagine having two kids both named the same thing. Close is bad enough. But middle names...nah. It's fine.
