I've been using iPhoto for about a year and I can't say that I love it really, but I think it's possible that I'm just not really utilizing it properly.

How do you organize your events? I leave mine as they come off the camera... but this means an event for each day and that is a LOT to sift through. I'm thinking of merging into monthly events.

Also, with doing the P365, I don't want 365 events to sift through for the whole year!

HI
I break down my pics by events. For instance, if we had a school event and then a family event on the same date, there would be 2 albums. As for 365, I am planning on duplicating the pic and then creating a separate album just for 365. I used to tag them as favorites, then you can just go through and view favorites. I scrap on 2 computers, so this way, I could take the whole 365 album and export if I need to.

HTH, I know you wanted to end up with LESS albums, but thought I would share what I do with iPhoto.

I organize everything by month, unless there was a major birthday or holiday which gets its own album.

I leave mine by day. I know it is a lot when you first open iphoto, but I love the you can run your mouse over each event and get a quick "flip book" type look through the photos. I find that I can usually find the photos I am looking for faster. If I have a picture and I know it was from "the middle of December" but don't know the exact date, I can just run across the 14th, 15th, and 16th.

For P365 I created a new folder (out of iphoto) and saved my full size edited jpegs and my web size files. I saved those by month :)

One of my favorite things in iPhoto is Smart Albums. I set up a smart album for my hubby, me, and one for each of the kids. When, I import photos, I go through the most recent import and tag each photo. Then, all the photos with DH go into his smart folder and the same for everyone else. I haven't done it yet, but I'm planning on setting up a smart folder for my 365 pics. Then, I can just tag them as P365 and they'll all go into the folder together, sorted by date. Works great!

Also, I use two other programs with iPhoto that I really like a lot. They both have free versions and paid versions. The first is iPhoto Library Manager. It lets you set up more than one iPhoto library and makes it easier to switch between your different libraries. I have one Library for my pics, one library for my scrap stash, and one library for albums that I've completed. The second program is actually a plug-in called Keyword Manager. I LOVE this system for tagging photos and adding keywords. It has made it a lot easier for me. Hope this helps!

I do the same as Traci. I have just started looking into ways to organize my scrap stash using iphoto but for now just use it for photos. There is so much I need to learn about my mac.
