iPhoto Help PLEASE!

So I'm new to the whole iPhone thing, and even though I've read through the iCloud Photo Library Help page, I can't figure out what's going on.

I have an iPhone 5 and a PC. When I first set up iCloud, the photos from my iPhone automatically showed up in an iCloud Photos folder in my Pictures folder. The photos magically went from my phone to my computer in just moments.

Then last month, they stopped updating. I don't know if I changed a setting or what happened, but the only way to get my photos to my PC was to connect it via cord. How 21st century is THAT? ; )

So I fiddled with it a little, hoping to get it updating automatically again, and when i opened my iCloud photos folder, ALL MY PICTURES WERE GONE! They're still on my phone, and I had already copied them into my monthly folders, but I feel like my parents must have when they first bought a VCR and I had to set it up for them. Except that I have no one to fix my iCloud photos and make them come back to my computer.

I tried googling, but I can't find the answer. Can someone just tell me what I should have my phone set to so that my photos automatically load to my computer? I will be your best friend if you can solve my problem.

I would guess this is all something to do with the photo sharing on both your phone and your pc. Did you get it figured out? If not I can try to walk through it all with you. Tech things like this can be so frustrating!
