I'm so mad....

ooo - i just thought of something - If push comes to shove - Buy a couple of boxes of Microwave Pancakes!!! HA

I'd tell her that pancakes and bacon can made a fabulous dinner...perhaps better than KFC? :D You should just do what you were planning. If she didn't want you to actually be in charge of it then should have just done it all herself. I don't have patience for people like that. And shame on your DH for not backing you up, you have every right to be mad about it.

Oh no he didn't!

Seriously hearing your pain in all this. I only read through this post, so maybe you've worked it all out by now, but dang I'd be mad!

I made my MIL cry once. True story. Well, probably more than once. We have an understanding now though. My husband rocks for getting a clue early on. And to her credit, my husband was my MIL's first and only child (out of 5 adult kids--all active-ish Mormons) to get married.

That's exactly what I told my hubby because he's taking HER side on this.

wow! way for the hubby to volunteer you!! so sorry paula...who's butt do i need to kick. your mil's or dh's!?!? i'll do it. :p

OK, saw the photos of the bacon before I saw this thread. I so would rather a ham/cheese crossiant over pancakes and bacon! I love crossiants! Now as for the cooking thing, tell DH him and his mother can cook the pancakes and bacon and go see your sister! :)

You guys all made me feel so much better!!

Would you believe that there is still no settlement in this? She's still pushing for the pancakes and bacon and I'm still pushing what I already paid for.

What is there to push about? You signed up for breakfast, you are making ham and cheese croissants, end of story. Tell here that you are more than happy to let her fix breakfast if she wants. But you already bought your stuff. Its her call...

P.S. I have a crazy pain-the-the-@ss MIL too, so I DEEPLY feel your pain. DEEPLY.

ROFL My BIL (her son) just called to tell me if she keeps this crap up, that they'll switch with me. They're doing lunch that afternoon. They were going to BBQ hot dogs. He said the ham and cheese croissants sound much better than pancakes and bacon. LOL I knew I liked him.

Tell her that bacon freezes and pancake mix keeps for ages, so she can use it for another family occasion--and she can cook it! Don't give in on this one. You've got a completely valid point and it's definitely worth taking a stand on.

I just told my hubby your predicament, and he's even on your side, lol! :D But he says you should put eggs in the croissants along with the ham and cheese. LOL. Helpful, right? ;)

Stay strong Paula. Tell her ok fine, i'll do the bacon and pancakes and go pick up the stuff. Then conveniently leave it at home and take your croissants...

My DH is teaming up with Bree's DH on this one too! I told him (because he was making bacon for lunch, lol), and he thinks your MIL is being ridiculous and your DH needs to make it himself then, lol!

do you ever feel like you married the wrong son?

At this point, I'd just drop it...don't argue with her anymore (or even talk to her about it, lol). Make the croissants like you'd planned originally and if she makes a scene at the thing, she'll be the one that looks like an idiot, not you.

yeah!

Well, she called earlier and I simply told her that I paid $35 (I ordered some fresh fruit too) for the meal that Steve and I have to make, that the money is nonefundable and that I am NOT making the pancakes. That since she bought the bacon already, she could make BLTs for dinner the night before and just freeze the pancake mix.

You can also inform her that you bought 2 20lbs bags of Pot
Dude, I did a double take before I realized you were talking about potatoes. :D But maybe this wouldn't be a bad idea... chill ol' MIL out. :D :D :D

And, um, I think pancakes and bacon go perfectly with KFC... it'll make a lovely dinner. ;)
