Oh man! I put a dvd disc into my computer and tried to open it... it froze and so I had to take the disc out and restart my computer... now when I put the disc in, it says it's blank! BLANK! I had 16 SSD kits on it! But some are so old, I don't think I can get the links reactivated or whatever (the purchase was made on the old shop so the invoices aren't showing in my order history)! I'm so sad! That disc was my back-up (the original is stuck on my dead laptop)

I guess I'll make 2 back-ups from now on! :crying:

I lost

Ugh. That sucks. I have 2 external hard drives that are identical. I figure it would be tough to lose both really close to each other before I could get another if one did go down.

That totally stinks!

It looks like

Absolute Cherry Crush
Boo Crew
Candy Cane Lane
Daybreak in Miami
Fall Out
Geeks Are Hot
Little Buddies (add-on)
Silly Monkey

Yeah, I used half of them, so it looks like I might have to buy them back again... which stinks :(

That stinks!!! I luckily just made my back-ups of photos & layouts and put copies in my safe deposit box at the bank... as well as having a copy on my new laptop & our desktop AND on a flash-drive thingy...

I'm really thinking about getting an EHD though that will hold so much more so I can have photos, and kits on there too.

EHDs can FAIL! I had 2 fail within a few days of each other...just an FYI!

Yeah, that's what I've heard and a reason why I haven't gotten one yet. I get at least one customer a day at my shop who wants their links reset because their EHD failed. I don't know what the best way to go is!!! Stinks!!!

Ehd's fail, and computers blow up, and links don't work, and DVD's corrupt, and mozy is slow as molasses, blah blah blah. If you're going to not get and EHD for that reason, you might as well not get a new computer cuz they fail all the time too. I mean come on.

An EHD is better than nothing. I have 3. One is 3 years old, is on everyday for several hours, and has been bumped and banged in bags to go on trips. And it's still kickin without even a hiccup.

Multiple defenses is the way to go. EHD backups, and online backups. I'm not a fan of DVD and CD backups because they are not long-lasting solutions. You are only burning on the wax part of the DVD and after a couple of years they become unreadable.

Absolutely. I have 2 external hard-drives. One to hold my stuff and the other to back up everything. On top of that, I use Mozy to make sure I have an off-site back-up (oh, and actually I burn all my photos to disk right when I download them off the cards too). Hard drives really aren't that expensive anymore (I just got a 1 Terabyte HD at Costco for $85), so there's no reason not to have one just for backing up.

Multiple back ups.

My kits are on EHD, my internal hard drive and DVDs.

Our pictures are on Tony's EHD, his internal hard drive, DVDs, and some are on my EHD

I approach it in the way that something will fail at some point. Best to be prepared. I do want another EHD as well, still deciding on what to do there though.
