For those of you who may have seen news of a tornado in New Zealand yesterday http://abcnews.go.com/International...s-zealands-largest-city-17890215#.UMFw1uTCaSo I just want to let you know that although I live reasonably close (around 10 miles south west) to the area most affected I am fine as I only got a whole heap of rain. It feels so weird to know we have tornados here. Before last year I hadn't even heard of tornados in NZ, and how we've had a couple in less than a year. The thing is, they're completely unpredictable here. Weather experts can't predict them like the ones that form in the States - the whole way they form is different. I was on the other side of the city when that happened. We got a ton of torrential rain, but no wind to speak of at all.
 
Scary!!! So happy you New Zealanders are safe! By the way, my kids want to visit New Zealand after seeing the Hobbit commercials for your airlines!
 
I just saw a report here in Germany about this storm.
And I'm glad that nothing happened to you.
 
THanks goodness you are ok! I am always so nervous of reports like that. The weather has changed so dramatically you never know what to expect anymore!
