I'm being whiney...

OK, so I finally applied for graduation in February this year (and this is after completing the requirements in Summer 2007). I opted to participate in the Commencement exercises in May since I didn't do it when I got my BS. I asked my mom if she would make it and she said no, she took on a new shift at the hospital and can't really make any demands yet. Well, my sister may or may not be coming home from Iraq in the same week and we all planned to see her get off the plane. Of course my mom will show up for that.....

I'm being whiney and selfish, I know, but I just had to let it out. Thanks for listening.:(

Oh I don't think it is whiney or selfish at all. You are proud (which you should be) of your achievement and would like to share it with your mother. Who wouldn't?! I can completely understand what you are feeling.

aww, we all deserve to be whiney and selfish sometimes :( big hugs! Congrats on the graduation and how wonderful that your sister could be coming back! My little brother just came home from Afghanistan for a few months in between tours...

Thanks, ladies...the thing is I was gonna pass up on "walking" but DH convinced me that it is an important thing to do so I'm doing it.

Traci, glad to see your lil bro taking a break, from Afghanistan no less. Yeah, can't wait for the "brat" to come home. Those calls in the middle of the night are exhausting. LOL!!!!!

Congrats on your commencement. Sorry about your mom not being there. My feelings would be hurt too. Maybe she will have a change of heart later. Sounds like your DH is very supportive. That is great about your sister returning.

DH is very supportive. Even his mama and aunt are going to show up for it. They'll take the Amtrak from Southern Cali to come to it. So I gotta count my blessings.

I totally agree with everyone else here...you worked hard and you should be proud of yourself. I hope your Mom does change her mind and decides to come......

I also wanted to say THANKS to your Sister and to Traci's Brother for fighting for our Country...

I have a nephew that did 3 tours 1 in Uzbakestan (spelling???) and the other two in Iraq..He is out now and is not going back but we are proud just the same...

CONGRATS girl, that is really a great achievement for you!!!!

I'd be a little POed too, it's a special day for you, and of course you want your mom there, most of us would! That would bother me too.

Congratulations on your graduation!

You ladies are very sweeet. I truly appreciate the lift.....while I doubt my mom is gonna change her mind about coming to see me, I'm thankful for those who are going to be there. :)

Traci, I passed by Sacramento once on my way to Reno. I'd comment about the weather but we'll be moving soon to a place that is hotter weather wise. Yikes!!!!
