I'm at home

So they did a scan and nothing made it into his lungs. Thank God. If Braden shows no signs of infection...fingers crossed...he could come home tomorrow.

The doctor said that where the incision and tube were in his throat will heal quickly with minimal scarring, and that the damage to the inside of his throat was "minimal" It's pretty much soft foods for a little while. They mentioned Pediasure??? Anyway, he isnt throwing up or anything so they said that was good too. The doctor was surprised that he was actually able to swallow the glass, because the peice was fairly large that got stuck. I recognized it as a part of a candleholder that had I had broken months ago.

Someone asked how old he was...he is 22 months. And Penny, I have no clue how I stayed so composed.

What really is irking me right now is yesterday when he was in recovery, still hadnt woken up from all of it...some lady came asking for $400 down on what insurance wouldn't cover. I flipped out on her. I mean my baby wasn't even awake yet and in a bed and she is asking for money. I was livid.

Thank you all for your messages I so appreciate it.

I am in bad need of a nap, a shower and some food. I will probably go back tonight and be home later. Probably some scrap therapy is in order.

I'll just be happy when he is home, being a stinker pie and driving me bonkers again. I've had lots of scary moments in my life, but this was absolutely the most terrifying.

Thank you again everyone.

I'm so glad to hear he is recovering. Sorry to hear the hospital staff was so insensitive. I hope you get some rest. Hugs.

Thank god he is alright Amy! I can't imagine how horrible it was for all of you!
Hope he recovers quickly, poor thing!

I am so glad that he is ok. How awful! For all of you. And that woman in the hospital asking for $$. You would have thought she would know better!

Oh Amy, I'm so glad the outcome is looking good. I'll keep him and your family in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy and easy recovery!

I'm glad he's doing well! Sorry about that crazy lady asking for money.

Just so you know, pediasure is pretty expensive. My doc told me to use carnation instant breakfast instead because it was much cheaper and basically the same.

We'll keep praying for you!

sounds like good news - get some rest and take care of yourself too! I hope he gets to come home tomorrow!

Thank goodness he is doing so well. I hope he is back home soon. Oh and the nerve of that lady asking for money!! Seriously some people have nerve.

Oh, Amy. I am SO relieved to hear that he is on the path to recovery! I don't know if I could have stayed as composed as you have through all of this... Get some rest, love on that baby, and keep us updated! ((hugs))

Oh Amy...I am so glad he is doing well. I can't even imagine going through that. Get some rest chickie.

I'm so glad to hear he's doing well and should be home soon. What a scary experience. Broken dishes are a regular occurrence around here. I always think I've got all the pieces, but you can bet I'm going to be extra careful about that from now on.

I'm glad he is okay. I'm sorry you had to deal with insensitive staff at the hospital. Take care of your self and get some rest - that is important too! Please keep us posted and I will continue to pray for your little guy!

Amy, I'm so relieved to hear that he is going to recover! How scary!!!!!! Thomas puts everything in his mouth too. I've been thinking about you and your family ever since I read your first post. {{{HUGS}}}

I am so happy to hear that he is going to be okay, what a nightmare :( You are so strong woman! I can't stand some of these people and the damn insurance and money and blah blah. We have been through the ringers with one of Lilys meds lately. I swear I woulda been tempted to rip her freakin head off!

Im glad he is on his way to recovery. Im sure it was really scary. I hope his recovery is quick and easy. {{hugs}}

So glad to hear he is getting better and that it wasn't any worse than it was. Hope you get him home soon!

And GRRRRRR to the stupid insensitive hospital lady!!!

Unsensitive hospital personal! I understand they want to make sure people pay the part of the bill the insurance doesn't cover and co-pays and such but how insensitive asking while things are still up in the air. geesh!

glad to hear things are better - and yes, his trach site will heal over quickly with minimal scarring being that he is so young!

keep us updated!!

Hey Amy, I'm so glad he's better and that you can take a deep breath! Rest up and I'm still praying for you both :)
