boat title, where would you be?

Ugh...I like to say I have organized chaos when it comes to paperwork. We keep EVERYTHING, but in no particular order. Now we are going to sell our boat and I can't find the title. I could have sworn it was in the safe with other titles but nope...not there.

Don't you just hate it when you have to deal with the tax collector's office? I guess I'll be down there Monday to get a duplicate.

We are just like that. Colby owns like a million different pieces of equipment yet has no filing system. It drives me nuts. A couple of months ago, he was pretty sure he threw away a couple titles and was digging through the trashcan, crazily looking for them. I said, "they are probably at your brother's house (his business partner)." He ignored me for a long time before finally calling the brother and guess where they were? I got a good giggle out of that.

I have no idea as I kinda have orgnized chaos too. But all paperwork is kept in one container here there is just a ton that I have saved over the last 20 years... but couldn't you file for lost title if you cannot find it?

ETA: We had a pretty nightmarish situation with our truck where the person we bought it from had the title but he had never gotten it in his name but he had signed the title so my husband and he had to meet at the tag office and transfer the title to that guy and then transfer to my husband. They were able to print a title right at the office for both transfers if I remember correctly and then the official title came in the mail like 2 weeks or so later.

Yes Jessica, we're going to pay for a duplicate tomorrow.

Nicole - We have a 1999 Champion Bass-n-Bay that we're selling because we just bought a 2004 SeaFox. We saltwater fish more than we freshwater fish so it makes sense to have the right boat for it. :)

Tracy, maybe you did what I accidentally did.... I searched my safe for a title to one of our offoad vehicles, and couldn't find it anywhere in the safe. I was so mad! A week later, I was looking for the title for our big truck.... in that envelope was both the title for truck AND the one offoad vehicle! I don't know how or why they were together in the same envelope..but they were. Is it possible you did the same?

Hope it doesnt take to long to get the title. I bet my husband would love to have that boat. He has been looking for one but I think he wants something a little smaller. We saw one at Bass Pro he would like to get.

I thought I might have done that, but I literally checked EVERY single piece of paper (twice). Oh well...off to get the duplicate today.

Bummer Tracy, was hoping you'd find it before this morning. I hate having to go to the DMV office. Such a pain and a wasted day. Ah well, make the best of it, maybe they'll serve good coffee today... LOL! :-)

I got lucky. The office where my mom works sublets an office to a woman who does title/tag work. She runs her own business dealing with fleet vehicles for companies. She was able to print out a new title in less than 5 minutes and only $11.50. It's good to have connections some times. :)
