If you think YOU'RE cold...

All vehicles up here have block heaters in them...we plug them in to keep them warm(ish) so that they will start each day. If you DON'T plug them in, good luck getting them to start. You still have to let them run for a while and warm up so the gas pedal/brakes aren't stiff and the inside isn't freakin freezing.

ETA: The only thing plugging them in does is basically keeps the engine temp from dropping to whatever it is outside. It doesn't help power the car or anything. :)

Iiiiiiiinteresting!!
See, we don't have that sort of thing where I'm from. So the diesel's WOULD freeze up if it got too cold. Actually, I might've heard that from my friend in Minnesota. I don't remember, but I know I heard it somewhere! LOL! School was canceled cuz the buses wouldn't start, lol.

We have to keep our block heaters warm (which keeps the oil warm), so our cars will start. The electricity is routed into the block heaters, so we literally "plug them in" with an extension cord! No joke.

should I brag?? teehee:p

Oh I know it happens all the time, because EVERY winter I watch the news and laugh at you American folk unable to deal with "winter". ;)

While I'm ever thankful to God for NOT making it -35 here, the whiplash from yesterday's 75 degrees to today's 28 degrees is miserable :(

Bahahahaha! True that!

For reals. I'm not big on cold, but I can handle it (I mean, NY gets dang cold enough for me). I barely survive winter at Jordan's parents house in western MD. It's usually 10-15 degrees below our temperature here, year round. Sooooooo not funny. I don't like single or negative digits. :p

well i think saskatchewan and manitoba can get it just as cold.. i honestly think once it gets past -30 it all feels the same. you don't think much about it because you go in and out as fast as you can and don't take the time to think about how cold it is.. haha :)

LOL! That is SO true! -40 feels the same as -30.... although I've felt -50*C (-58*F) and THAT WAS MUCH WORSE! You feel the difference then, lol!
