If I'm not around...

it's because I have a MASSIVE ear infection. My ear is closed shut with wax buildup inside AND my eustachian tube is swollen to the point that I can feel it in my neck and it hurts to chew food, yawn, hiccough or anything else.

My doctor can't see me until Thursday and I am in MAJOR alternating pain and itching. I have to alternate heat and ice on it and take ibuprofen for the pain, which isn't working. :( I just hope my stupid ear drum doesn't burst between now and then. Ugh!!

So, If you don't see me around, that's why.

sorry to hear that...im kinda in the same boat. Have a cavity which is absolutely killing me right now. Cant get into the dentist until the 25th but he did call me in some antibiotics and pain pills which seem to be helping some. I feel really sick now though because I think the infection is spreading. Hope you can get some relief soon too.

Ow! Is there not a same day clinic you could go to before Thursday...that's a long time to go with that kind of infection and pain.

OUCH! That stinks, Paula! I can't believe they won't see you until Thursday! Our doctor's office will always take us in same day for stuff like that. Sometimes we have to see a different doctor in the office, but they make sure we're seen. I'm with Nikki, is there no walk-in clinic or somewhere you can go?

I hope you get it looked after and feel better asap!

Unfortunately, that is the clinic where the appointment is on Thursday. I was told if it gets too unmanageable, go to the ER. Ugh!

Oh no, that's horrible! I would definitely call back and try to force my way into an appt. I had an ear infection a couple years ago and they had to puncture and vacuum my ear drum (it sounds worse than it was). {{HUGS}}

Oh Paula!! That sounds terrible girl! I am sorry you have to wait until then! I hoep the time passes quickly for you!! ((hugs))

oh Paula, I feel so bad for you! I sure hope it feels a little better or you can get in somewhere sooner, hon! (((Hugs))) and sending some chicken soup vibes your way.

Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!

I often suffer from ear infections, and I manage the pain with either hot oil drops or homeopathic ear drops, ibuprophen, and a weighted heated pillow. And if I suspect my ear infection is caused by my allergies, I also take claritin or benedryl.

I hope you feel better soon!

Oh, no! That sounds horrible! I hope the dr gets you feeling better! I don't know if I could wait that long, I hate ear infections! They hurt like crazy!!!
I'm sending lots of get better wishes!!!!!

Thanks girls! I ended up going to the ER and here's what they did for my severe ear ache:

1. the Dr. tells me it's BAD and that if it gets in my brain, I'm dead - Gee thanks for scaring the CRAP out of me

2. the nurse tells me that the above is worst case scenario IF I don't take care of it

3. She gives me TWO shots of Rosarin, a bottle of Vicodin and some heavy duty ear drops

4. She gives me scripts for Tylenol #3, Daypro and more ear drops

:blink: The doctor seriously told you that!!! :blink:

WOW! I hope all of the medicine helps quickly!!!

Yep he told me that. I sat there and cried and cried and wasn't comforted until the nurse came in and told me it was a "worse case" scenario. Ugh!

Don't you just love doctors with fabulous bedside manner like that? :rolleyes:

Sorry you had to deal with such a schmuck, Paula. Nothing like being totally traumatized by a medical professional when you're already feeling like you're on death's door. I hope some of the meds give you relief. Feel better soon, Paula! {{{{HUGS}}}}
