Help me (and all the other hybrid CT members out there) come up with some exciting projects that you really want to read about.

What kind of hybrid projects do you like to make and/or read tutorials about?

I work on several CT's as a hybrid member and I'm racking my brain about what kind of projects to give tutorials on...it seems like everything is a box or a card. So I'm curious what kind of other things would you like to see in the designers blogs and here at the Sweet Shoppe in the gallery?


So give your ideas and thoughts....

Maybe things that people can make to give as little gifts? Thank would get a lot of people who have not tried hybrid before to take the plunge.

Like little albums? ornaments, how to's for brag books? I always appreciate the little projects that Jen Tapler has on her blog. I have made many of her post-it note holders.

Gift card holders, Patterns for those fold up mini-albums(with directions-maybe a layered PS file-so you know which way is up when printing, Cupcake picks, Gift bag toppers. Book bag tags with shrink plastic...
 
Good ideas Robin- that's what I'm thinking- things that are good to give away as gifts. Maybe matchbox or badge type albums? anyone done anything with acrylic? I'll think of more... ;)
 
I think gift ideas are always best. I love making things to give away. Also, I like things to use at home like calendars, planners, and even kid projects like activity books :thumbup:
 
I know I absolutely love using all my SSD kits with the Lauren Meader Timeless Templates. Those things are addicting!

I've seen them in the store and they have these glass pebble magnet things to mark dates on the calendar (I guess the calendar is magnetic?) and all sorts of cool scrapbook embellishments on the 'communication center', which of course I'd love to do with digi elements/papers.

Also on that picture, I'd like to know how to do those picture frames in the middle.

And I'd love to know how to make stuff like framed items like quotes or whatever.

I know those message centres are magnetic, but have you seen this similar amazing cork-board project by Jen Tapler?


I'm sure if asked, she'll do a little how-to :)
 
I should probably be quiet as i don't do hybrid - but I'm sure if you wanted them magnetic you could use some mdf or something and cover with magnetic paint. If you do a few coats, and your paper is not too thick it should still hold the magnets. Maybe you could even cover it with sticky back plastic on top of the paper to make it more durable, although I'm not sure if that would affect the paint.
 
I was wondering something simmilar - if a layer of Mod Podge to stick and seal your papers etc would have any effect on a magnetic board. I doubt it would, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.
 
Well dangit Julie, now I'm on a mission. :P I need to make a trip to home depot anyway. I'm thinking some metal sheets would easily fit inside a frame (use hot glue to stick it to the frame itself I think) and then you can use the magnetic sheets from Staples to print out and make your pretty decorations.

::sigh:: Can someone go find me a can of Time? I'm in desperate need of some!

ETA: I might have some plain wooden frames too, to work on that project......
 
That's so funny, I was just trying to think of ways to make a magnetic board today in the car on the way to work. I was thinking about piecing together advertising magnets to recycle them. LOL!

A sheet of metal from Home Depot would work 1,000 times better. ha,ha,ha

These are all really great ideas and I appreciate the input. I love making little gifts too, especially for teachers and friends at work. I wish I could go home now and start working - shh, I'm at work!!!
 
My craft store has 12x12" sheets of thin metal, so I'm assuming they use those but how I'd put the paper and calendar on it I don't know. I might just have to pester them on how they made their displays.
 
Just glue that paper/calendar onto it Julie. Use mod podge or double sided tape, something like that.
