When the new Mad Max movie came out almost all of my friends wants nuts over it. It was all so many of them talked about, not one had a bad review.

I never went and saw it, even with my deep, deep love of Hardy - even weird as all get out Hardy, because I didn't like the original ones. But it came on HBO tonight, so I watched it.

And.... what? I feel like I must have missed half the movie? I don't get it. Why did everyone love this movie so dang much. This is only furthering my distrust of people's recommendations. Lol!

I'm the opposite. We read nothing but bad reviews from friends but we LOVED it. And have lost count of how many times we've seen it. But we love the originals and my son & hubby also play the game.

I don't listen to anyone anymore, usually I hate the movies they rave over and love the ones they say to avoid.

The only person I know who saw it was my little brother, but he LOVED it. That being said - I know his tastes, and they are pretty much the polar opposite of mine, so I won't be seeing that one!

I didn't hear a single review on it, but my ds picked it up for a family movie night.

BOOOOORING.

Strong, kick-ass female role was the only interesting part. <3 Charlize

It feels like they only gave you half developed characters. Both Furiosa and Max obviously have somewhat interesting backstories, but the only thing you know about them is that Furiosa was kidnapped, only has one arm, and somehow made it to war rig driver.

And who knows what was going on with Max. They could have scaled back the action like 1/4 to develop them more.

Was the movie like supposed to pick up after the originals and it was all part of a storyline?

Yeah. My husband and I rented it one night because we heard such good reviews from friends. Neither of us really got it and thought it was pretty stupid.

I find I'm always skeptical of Oscar nominated movies. Sometimes you get lucky and they're good (like The Martian) but half the time I swear they make no sense and no one wants to admit they don't understand it so decide it must be brilliant, haha. I find the same thing with a lot of classic books.

I haven't seen this one or the original but my thought was an Oscar nominated action movie has to have something weird about it or it wouldn't have been nominated, lol.

It wasn't HORRIBLE, very overly campy in the characters, but it just seemed like a part of a movie and not a whole thing. Like they cut all of the story from it and only left action sequences.
