I think I'm gonna be sick...

Might I have to give up Firefox? I can barely type the words! There has GOT to be a reasonable explanation for this! I just finished reloading Vista on my lappy and restoring everything to factory settings.

Of course the first thing I did was go download firefox. The second thing I did was install PSPX2. (It's installing right now)

So the problem was, my computer is scrolling on its own, down to the bottom of any folder while I'm in Windows explorer and won't let me scroll back up. When I'm online, it won't let me hover over a thread to read the beginning of it, and it won't let me use dropdown menus with my touchpad or mouse. I can use the arrow button to scroll down through the options on a dropdown menu. It was also doing it in PSP, forcing me to use the last font in my menu, etc. (Special thanks to Darcy for renaming my Lena font "zuzy" for me as a temporary fix so atleast I could journal using my font rather than Wingdings3 which was previously the last font in my menu)

It's really a bizarre problem and HP's best advice was to reload Vista. This lappy is about 10 weeks old and it just started doing it a week ago.

Well the problem is, the reload didn't fix it :( :( :(

It's still doing everything exactly the same.

EXCEPT.

IE is working just fine! I had never tried it. Go figure! It doesn't do any of the weird scrolly things in IE. I can hover to read, I can use dropdown menus, everything is fine.

But Mozilla still is doing it and my computer itself is still doing it.

This is AWFUL news because I guarantee you that when they call me back they are going to want me to send the lappy in for repair. which means, no 'puter for me 'till it's done. :( :( :(

What will I do? They are calling me in about a half an hour to see how the reload went and I'll give them the bad news.

Yeah, I love what Firefox can do, but I have the same problem on my Mac(laptop) and my PC(desktop). I have more hangups with Firefox where the curser gets hung up or the things just scrolls and scrolls to no man's land! I also have more problems when I have multiple windows open.

I think that my computer(HP) likes IE and the Mac likes Safari....

Ihave the same problem from time to time but it normally resets itself if I close & then reopen Firefox. So far it hasn't spread to my other programs

I have been using FF with Vista since November when I got my lappie, I have never had this happen. Well, other than when my battery starts to die in my mouse, but it doesn't happen with a freshly charged battery or the touchpad.

Hopefully someone can help you out Lena!!

Ive never hasd any issues like that with my HP desktop. When I had my old computer it would act weird like my tab key would not work to go through forms. It switched back and forth between windows that I had open instead. Then my mouse would all of a sudden switch from left clicking twice to open something to the left click acting like a right click as it would pull one of those little menu boxes up like it does when you right click. I cant think of anything that could be doing this on your laptop though that is very strange!! Has it done this from the very beginning when you first got the laptop?

I got my HP desktop in March with Vista Home Premium and I use firefox religiously. I have never had a problem with it. I hope you get it figured out. I would get so frustrated!!
