that the dress that I have loved for like 2 years in the VS catalog would actually look halfway decent on me once I finally buy it. 40% off, $15 off my order, and free shipping. I couldn't pass it up. So I bought it, and in a Medium (8-10) instead of a Large (10-12) like I normally would. It fits fine, and I should be happy that I don't look like a stuffed sausage in it, but man I'm bummed it doesn't look better on me. :(

Awwwww! I hate when I drool over something forever and then it looks bad on me. So frustrating! :thumbdown: But hey, yay for being a size down!!!!

Now here's hoping the outfit I ordered from VS fits me... but I know it won't look half as good on me as on those skinny minnie VS models. lol
 
I bet it looks better than you think it does...we're always our own worst critics you know.

But bummer that you don't like it.
 
I mean, I know we're our own worst critics, but I'm not usually that hard on myself. I often feel like I have reverse anorexia - I see myself as thinner than I really am.

Of course I sent my gf a pic from my phone, and she told me I'm crazy and I just need some Spanx. Soooo maybe it's all in my head..... ::sigh:: Clothes are the devil.
 
I never understand how those women in that catalog look so sexy! Even in my best year, I couldn't put on one of those outfits and look half as good....

SO...I'm guessing you look pretty dang hot in it...just don't try to compare yourself to those models!
 
In the interest of full disclosure (I SWEAR I'm not fishing for compliments, I just want honest opinions) here's the dress. My gf suggested some spanx underneath. I'll be wearing heels with it too.

I think it's cute! Wish I could wear something like that ... but I have a bubble belly and a big ole butt. lol
 
spanx would def push that in.. and lift your bum too. they're expensive though ^_^ maybe try some control top pantyhose first?
 
I hate pantyhose with firey passion of a thousand suns, LOL!
I can use them for the wedding too most likely, so I don't mind the $$. I think Kohl's has cheaper ones too.
 
maybe if it was shortened a bit so it was just above the knee? I think thats maybe taking away from the shape of the dress, its making you look shorter than you are.
 
Cute dress!! I agree with your friend on the Spanx. They make every outfit better, lol! Don't settle for imposters either--Spanx brand all the way!
 
I tried some Dr. Ray shapewear from Sears for the wedding I went to last weekend. Worked great and SO much more cost effective than Spanx. I've tried those too. :) I'm sure they'll be on sale for Labor Day weekend. Super cute detailing on the dress- you're adorable!
 
Spanx it UP...and get a great push up bra...suck the stomach and push up the girls...I think its wonderful BTW!

Go to Target and get their Asset brand. I think it was started by the gal that started Spanx. They are half the price and they last so much longer!

So, wearing the shaper will do the trick, and you look adorable in the dress btw!
 
seriously Col, if I looked like you I would be THRILLED! You are beautiful and throw a little spanx or whatever on and you'd be killer! Wear it and own it! You are darling :wub:
 
That dress is so cute! And you look great - I don't know what a spanx is, but I'm sure it's good.. A corset would work too probably.

BTW, and totally off topic, I love your camera strap!
 
:o :o Awww, you guys are too much! Thank you!! The dress is now hanging in the closet, so it's not going back :) I have to go to the mall anyway this weekend to take advantage of some labor day sales, so I'll be picking up some Spanx (or something similar). I need a new convertible type bra too, so that's on the list (the dress is a racer back), and I'll be sure to make sure the cleavage factor is HIGH :p I'm planning on wearing it out in Atlantic City next weekend for our joint Bachelor/ette party :thumbup:

Thanks Annie! It makes me happy that you can tell, since we've actually met and stuff :) I think we're both destined to be double chin sisters for life. I think I've always had one. Aren't you down a size or two yourself??
