I need to lose weight.

That is it. That is what I need it.
Let me rephrase to you: I NEED IT. In caps lock!

I am tired of looking at the mirror and hate what I see.
I am tired of my hair - tried that 'keep it natural' - it has a lot of grey hair - a lot! - and I am hating it. And it is too long for my taste.
I am tired of feeling insecure to even take a picture - something I used to do soooo much after everything happened and life changed, when I was feeling more like myself.
And I am weak, girls.
SO F WEAK, you have no idea.
The thing is: I need $ - lots of $. SOOO what I did for two weeks? Tried to make some extra $, doing some extra job.
The deal was for me to go Thursday and Friday.
Did it the first week and, man, it felt good to be able to do something I am not used to do and do some extra $ I know I am so much needed.
Went again last Thursday.
Couldn't come back on Friday.
Why, do you ask me?
Because I am weak.
I couldn't do what I was suppose to do.
My arms - my always fat arms - gave up and I had to take some really heavy meds during the weekend to be able to have my back ok again.
All that why?
Because I am fat, need to lose weight and MORE THAN THAT, need to be strong.

Why I am telling you all that?

Because, as I said before, I don't have $, so I can't go to the gym. Gym is expensive here and with my herniated disc it is not everything I can do.

So I thought: I will start some training at home until things get better (and, COME ONE, things will get better, right?) - buuuut, to do some training at home, I need to know where to start and I have no idea.

There are a ton of youtube channels I could watch, I know, but thought maybe some of you can help me with that?

Do you follow some of these channels?

I can't do much. I am fat, weak, have my normal back problem and since I am the primary adult of my home, who go here and there with Brian, the teenager, I can't have any extra back problem again.

So if you have any youtube you follow that is nice, understand a 47 years old fat woman trying to lose weight, can you please let me know?

Thank you.

I promise I will try and do better and lose weight. And will let you know if I can do it. :)

I know you can do it Ru, but you really need the right mindset...I mean, your mind needs
that mindset as well. You can scream all you want and yes I know I have been there...but wanting
and feeling and that mindset...that is it!! And if that right mindset is there then you won't give up!!
I hope you understand what I try to say and mean?!! Big hugs 🤗

BTW I think you are a very beautiful person inside and out I just wished you could see yourself that way and
I know I'm not the only one who thinks that!!

Me, I gave up a long time ago...I litterly tried everything, even had a gastric bypass which did NOT work!
Walking, healthy eating, sports...And I'm oke with it now!! Yes I am fat, so what...I'm beautiful and my BF says I'm
beautiful and that is all that matters, I wear little sundresses haha Did not do that before I knew my BF and they look really cute on me too!! I am grey, yup and proud of it! It means I'm aging...it's a natural process...do I dye it, yes but that's just
some sort of statement! Like look at me here I am and I matter!!!

OMG, me too!

I was around your age when a light switch was flicked, and I started a strict diet and lost 60 lbs. I've since gained back 45, so not sure I'm the best to help. Back then, I started with diet. No sweets, no junk, only lean meat and veggies. I still haven't had a burger, and it's been way over a decade.

Once I lost a lot of weight, I started with the exercise bike. If that is not an option for you, walking is a cheap way. I've recently joined a hiking club, so it's fun to get in steps with others. Look for hiking or walking groups in your area, or start your own!

I also stretch every morning before getting out of bed, and this has help greatly with the back problems I had pretty much my whole life until stretching. It's one knee at a time to your chest for 10 seconds followed by both knees together. I've also added stretching my leg out straight and pulling it toward me after a weird leg injury I had.

Weights. You can start with simple exercises with a light weight. Those are sometimes pricey, so you can use a pot or pan to hold out your arms and do butterflies. And count! Don't just go until you can't. Pick a number to do and increase that number over time. I do the weight machine Mon., Wed., and Fri. while taking off the weekends. A routine with same time and same day helps a lot.

Good luck with your journey! And, it IS a journey. I hoping to start a diet in July to try and lose 30 lbs., so I'll be right there with you.

Same here. I never have been this heavy. and next to that I'm small too so I look bigger as well.
What I do is follow some simple pilates apps and videos which help a lot with feeling and hopefully the weight as well.

What also helped for me when I can stay on the track is lowcarb food. Sometimes I fell off the wagon but I can hop back on any time. there are thousands of recipes on Pinterest which really are delicious and easy to make.
Even though I like sugar. it really is an addiction. I like fresh real food more more pure.

Hopefully this helps

Losing weight is so hard, and changing your habits around diet and fitness are like changing your religion. The pain is real, and it's hard to change! The thing that has worked for me is intermittent fasting. I lost 15 lbs in four months by restricting my eating window and paying attention to my sugar consumption, and I've stayed at my ideal weight for the last three years by following those two principles. During the first four months, I was very strict and only ate from 12-6, but now that I'm maintaining my weight, I eat from 9-6. It turns out that you are only supposed to consume a maximum of 25 grams of sugar a day, and it's wild how quickly that adds up. For me, I was getting 17 grams of sugar just at breakfast with a glass of orange juice! I learned to eliminate sugars that weren't worth it for me. I don't always stick to the 25 gram limit, but being aware of it helps me make better choices.

There is an app/website called Fit On that has really great workout routines. I find it easier to navigate than Youtube. I also really like using Kettlebells to work out at home; I just bought a set of three (5, 10, 15) for USD 30, and I love the variety of exercises I can do with them.

Me too, you are definitely not alone 🤗 I had several injuries the last 3 years lots of steroids went from working out 5-6 times a week to nothing. So depressing. I've gained 50lbs. I finished physical therapy and am slowly getting back. Check out HASfit on YouTube they have some great workouts ❤️❤️

I am in the same boat! My inner voice (and sometimes my out voice) is so negative to myself.
What I have been doing that I seems helps me - although not seeing results I want. But I started using a simple tracker. I find it helps me because I like seeing the checkmarks. It forces me to do it.

I been using YouTube videos, because I don't want the hassle or expense of a gym. I started using videos by Madfit and now am doing videos by Hasfit - that I really like. They range from 20-45 minutes. I tend to do the 30 minute ones. Since January I have upped by weights. I am stronger I think, but am not seeing results in my actual weight or mid section (hate evening saying it). I need to eat less I think, but that has been the hard part.

Ugh, I feel your pain, but I know you can do it.

big huge hugs! I am a weight loss genius! I have lost 100 pounds, 50 pounds and am currently at 20 pound loss.
Most of those pounds were the same ones!
It is a vicious cycle, and until our brain, heart and body go together. We won't do it.

I'm 62, and was in the best shape of my life before, during, and after COVID. Then life exploded. Teenagers became possessed by insanity, my momma had a horrible stroke, and months of therapy, nursing homes, hospice, and then her death and then her estate management. I crumbled. CRUMBLED. The stress of it all caused a major meltdown, and I ate, and ate, and ate, and wound up sick, overweight, and on Oxygen 24/7. pushing over 300 pounds and miserable.

I wallowed for almost a year, then began to clean (more like purge) my house. I walked, walked and rode my bike short distances. Off oxygen, and began KETO 2.0(high protein, low carb with any berry I want). I know it works FOR ME, because I lost 100 pounds doing it in 2016!

You can do this, find what works for you, and do small changes if that helps. Walk around the block. then two, then more.
I am the best cheerleader and will be here (and there), but celebrate every victory, and cheer for you to keep going!

OMG!!! I am so happy to see that someone else knows them! I just started like a month or two ago. Yes, I love the two of them, their banted is funny and cute! I need to try to do a longer one, been hitting only the 30 minutes lately.

I just wish to see a difference, but I think I need to try harder for a calorie deficeit.

It takes time ❤️

Perhaps your weight is bothering you, but from what I understand, in your case you need to strengthen your muscles and get out of a sedentary lifestyle, since we spend so much time sitting in front of the computer.

Walking is an excellent start; I do it and love it because, in addition to the physical aspect, it's a time I use to meditate and organize my ideas and thoughts.

There are Pilates exercises to strengthen muscles that can be done at home, with a broom handle, a chair, or water bottles. I know there must be some on the internet; look for the ones that will be easiest for you to create a daily exercise routine.

Diet is also important, but I think that's the hardest part. Now, my dear friend, take care of your emotional well-being. As soon as things become more financially organized, seek help from a psychiatrist to help you deal with all the emotional weight you've been carrying these past few years. I'm sure you have more strength than you imagine. ❤️😘

Ugh, I know the feeling! I stopped drinking soda, started walking, lost 26 pounds. Then, my stupid thyroid started being stupid again and I had to go back on all my meds, and have gained 30+ pounds back. Now that my thryoid levels are better, and I don't get short of breath just walking up the stairs, I'm slowly starting to get back into moving more.

I would say just start with something small. Maybe there is something you eat or drink that you know is bad for you...lots of sugar, soda, etc. Try cutting one of those out of your day. Start moving even if it's just 15 minutes a day.

Hang in there!

Big hugs, Ru!
I have no youtube advice for you as I do minimal exercise at home.
Some indoor running on a mat while watching something on the laptop for 30 minutes each day or some core training for my legs while lying on the bed (our mattress is a hard one, so I can lay down without it being squishy), some days I take long walk. I take rest in the weekend. I used to have a pool membership to swim each week, but it's gotten expensive so I stopped.
For the eating habit, most days, I eat between noon and 8pm.
Less rice, very minimum soda and sweet drinks. I mostly drink water (almost 3L a day), Americano, coconut water and unsweetened tea.
I cook our dinner, so nothing oily most of the time. For lunch, as I am on my own most days, I eat salad with boiled egg.

For me, I manage to stay consistent with the exercise and eating habit only after I changed my mindset from 'wanting to lose weight' to 'wanting to be pain-free and healthy'. I think that is important.

I hope you find what works for you soon, Ru! xo

Oh my dear friend, there is such a burden on your heart. I am praying fervently for you to have peace.

I have lost 90 pounds, but that has taken from 2017 to 2026 (9 years!) to lose. Right now, I've gained about 7 pounds back. I'll lose it and then gain it and lose it and gain it - playing with the same 10 pounds for months before I move into the next 10 pound. Most of the weight loss I attribute to my spinal cord stimulator, but I also take medication for my blood sugar and that has contributed to about a 20 pound loss.

Right now, I'm just trying to get up and walk, taking frequent breaks from my sedentary hobbies (cross stitching, reading, painting, doodling, TV watching, designing/scrapbooking). I'm not adding anything else into the mix until I am fully consistent with walking. I think it's the cheapest thing you can do. You can also walk at home in air conditioning. I know that I can't stand the heat right now in Florida, so that's what I do. Sometimes I just walk laps in and around my house. I have used the walking videos from this channel: Walk At Home. Be careful doing any kind of exercises that may exacerbate your herniated disk.

As far as your hair, I know this struggle. I wanted to wait until I was 60 to go gray, but I developed a couple of skin conditions from an autoimmune response (I think radiation for breast cancer started this). It was all over my scalp so I had to stop getting lowlights and highlights. It's been hard for me to feel beautiful with gray hair, but the longer I have it, the more I've gotten used to it.

You are such a hard worker, so I wouldn't say that because you can't do something that it's because you are lazy. I have horrible self-talk, and I have said that so many times. I'm really trying to focus on positivity and gratitude. I love the days when I accept myself and talk nicely, but oh, those days when I can't say anything nice, those are the worse. I totally feel you on this.

Sending you much love. You are divinely and wonderfully made. You are my friend, and I'm so grateful to know you!

Looks like we are with a lot of us who think/feel they are fat and not worthy because of that.
Been there, still there sometimes, but also not giving a f*ck at other times.
What others said, if you want to loose weight, it all starts with the right mindset. Oh, and don't forget to pick those excercises that you love. I know I don't like going to the gym, so I would be as weak as you describe yourself, and quite. I do love dancing though, so dancefit is my type of excercise. I also started barre workout, which is part ballet (with the barre) and part fitness (like thousands of squats during one hour). And I still love to go ballroom and latin dancing.

Oh, and I forgot to say: if you want to loose weight, you have to count calories... First you have to find out how many calories you can have to stay at the same weight and then deduct 500 from that if you want to loose weight. You basic amount has to do with your gender, age, weight and length, plus how many hours of excercise you get per week.

Good luck with your journey, we are all here to support and motivate you and each other!

There's a podcast i enjoy listening to: losing 100 lbs with Corinne. She has a paid thing, but I just listen to her free podcast. She talks through the mental side of weight loss. And encourages you to start with just a walk.

Now, word of warning, she's a southern lady who swears on occasion and tells is like it is. That's not for everyone, but i like her no nonsense style. And she's lost 100lbs herself and kept it off, so she knows what's she's talking about.

She doesn't have a diet or exercise that she focuses on, it's more the headspace part.
