I'd go with the guinea pig- I'm glad others have already suggested them!
If I ever get another pet- it'll be a guinea pig. They're so cute- all the ones I've had would climb up onto my shoulder and cuddle my cheek. lol! They purr and grunt and oink- I think the noises they make are funny & cute! Whenever we opened the frig they'd squeal, thinking we were getting them some lettuce or a carrot! They're really funny!
Mine (I've had a ton of em) never stunk- I'd just clean their cage 1x a week and it was pretty easy- you just put a layer of newspaper on the bottom and cover that with wood shavings... time to clean, just go empty the garbage and dump the cage stuffs into the bag and clean the bottom tray thingy and refill. All the guinea pigs I've ever had would choose just one corner of their cage to potty in- they're smart and they don't wanna sit in shit. lol!
They bathe themselves like cats do, the only thing is we'd have to take them to the vets once in a great while to get their nails clipped. Some people have to get their teeth trimmed- but mine always chewed on the wires in the cage which kept them trimmed.
