anyone know how to make the picture that is on the first page of a pdf file show up? I just got a new laptop a few weeks ago and I can no longer see the image for my crochet patterns that are in pdf. So I have to completely open them now to know which hat they are. Any ideas? Does that make sense?

I freakin' hate Windows 8, I can't find crap on here. LOL!

I don't think I've ever had a .pdf file show up as anything but the Adobe icon... but in your situation what I'd do is do a screenshot or open the .pdf in Photoshop, save if as folder.jpg and create a folder with both the preview and the .pdf in it. The .jpg would show as your thumbnail in folder view and you could see what you've got.

The crappy laptop I used before would show a picture, the picture is like the first page of the pdf, now it just shows the Adobe icon.

That's what mine look like on my computer. I've never had PDF's show up with a preview or thumbnail image. Huh...

I used "PDF thumbnails Windows 8". It sounds like it has to do with a 32 vs. 64 bit operating system. I have a similar problem on my MAC with Photoshop filters. Good luck, I hope it works!

Try to uninstall Acrobat (if that's what you use to open PDF files). You can try to check Nitro PDF - I used it for quite a while before switching to Adobe.
