I need help with a font

Help! I am working on a LO and it appears the fonts I bought from here don't have true curly quotes. (Font is DJB Lizzy Fizzed Out, but I bought about 10 fonts, so I can change it if I need to.)

I need to write 'Home Alone' and 'Kindergarten Cop', but the first quote leans the wrong way. I checked the index key here, and sure enough, there is only one quote.

Is there a work around? What do other people do?

Thanks,
Lime

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by not having true curly quotes or that they lean the wrong way. Single quotes as well as double quotes are in all the fonts. Here's what it looks like when you type it out.

Wow!
I have never used quotations in my journaling I guess...how weird is that?

Maybe you could put the quotation mark as a layer all by it's self and then mirror it so that it faces the right direction?
I use PSPX2 and I think that is what I would do!

Darcy I'm sure will be in shortly and may have more insight!

Ohh I see she beat me too it!
Thankfully you don't have to worry about my time consuming idea!

Thank you for the PROMPT reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No wonder you don't know what I'm talking about -- yours are right (true curly quotes)

In MS Word the fonts are fine. In PSP, they only have the closed quote, but it is also used as the open quote. Now get this: In PSP, Times New Roman has Inch marks ' as the quotes - and I am 100% sure TNR has true curly quotes, so in other words, PSP won't let both the curly quotes come through on fonts. ANY fonts, not just yours.

Here is what mine look like in Paint Shop Pro. Both PSP 7 and PSP 8. It must be a software issue, do you have any idea where I might change a setting?

This is why I hate digital scrapping. Even the simplest things are a huge chore for me. Okay, I'm whining, but I am NOT crabbing at you, ok? I'm just frustrated.

I don't have PSP..so I don't have a clue what might be wrong. Hopefully, one of the PSP'ers will be in soon to give an answer. Meanwhile, I'll go looking around.

I've been reading -- I can fix it for now by using AASCII-HTML codes. alt + 0145. (double open quotes is alt + 0147 in case anybody runs into this)

I'm sure there must be a setting somewhere, but it isn't under preferences and help is of no use. :)

Thanks for your help!

I was just gonna say I'm headed to some PSP boards to see if there is a fix. It must be a flaw in the programming (you'd think it would be fixed at this point), where it can't accept the regular code and automatically converts to the ASCII. It's unable to take the universal code and automatically place it the way word and PS programs do.

The other option is also just to do a quick layer, type it in and mirror it.

Wow!
I totally found the same thing you did...It must be a PSP thing...
Here is the outcome of my investigation...

1st font is Lizzy...

Wow! I never noticed it does that! Weird. A lot of the fonts I have though both sides of the quotes look the same.

I am a PSPer, and I have that problem with my fonts too... and sometimes other special characters just don't work. :( I'm glad you've been able to find some helpful suggestions here! I always put the quotes on their own layer and mirrored them like was suggested before!!

too wierd - I use PSPX2 and I guess I've never paid much attention to the fact they aren't right--Duh--I'll never remember the codes so I'll probably just duplicate layer and mirror
