I need a person who is very good with computers!!

So hoping someone can help me wit this.

I have an HP Envy laptop with Windows 7 64 Bit Operating System. It has 8 gigabytes RAM and approximately 930 gigabytes on my hard drive. My question is this: somethings like for instace pictures is divided and you can directly view those divisions though the start menu. While other things like "computer" only dividers to the drives on the computer so now you have to open the folder you want to view complete and navigate to the place you were wanting to go to. For instance on my computer my hard drive is divided into three sections. One is the main drive. The second section is where I keep most of my scrapping stuff and the last is really not used. I was set up in factory to be a backup drive but how it going to back up a drive 100 times larger I do not know. I would love to set up my computer though so that when browsing I can expand each section out to show the individual folders and the files inside each folder. If anyone has any idea how to to about doing this and could let me know Id be forever grateful :D
 
Jessica......it's like you're speaking a foreign language. LOL. I'm no help at all in these kinds of matters, sorry. I just didn't want to read and run. I hope someone can help you.

I've never used Windows 7 so I don't know what you mean about pictures being divided and folders and the start menu. But it sounds like your hard drive is maybe partitioned? There are ways to undo that but I'd make sure you had really really good backups first because if you do something wrong, you could delete all your data. My hard drive is partitioned. That I already knew. Now when I click on start and say I go up to my user files like for instance Jessica. It will pull out another window. On this pull out it will have a lit of what in that particular folder. In each of those folders there can be more folders or just files sometimes. But not all folders on the compluter do this. Like all of that on DRIVE C if I want to look at DRIVE D I have to open it, doublie click on the folder or file I need each time. Sometimes the folder can be 2 oe 3 deep which is a paid whree as if I could figure out a way to make the whole harddrive indexed like that so when when I click on DRIVE d (or whereever) Id get a slidee out menu and then just go down to the file I needed and doible slick intersad of hawing to open five folders to get there.
 
are you looking for the preview pane? Up in the top right of the window, beside where you change views from list/icon/thumbnail, there's a button that says "show preview pane". Does that help?
 
Can you maybe give us some screenshots of what you like vs what you don't like?

The difference between Computer and Photos on the start menu is that Photos are in a library. We just got a second hard drive so DH has been showing me how to work the libraries, but I'm not sure that's what you are asking.
 
I did do a screenshot. I hope it better explains what I mean. Only certain folders are indexed where when you click on them you get a slide out window with more foloders or other files. In my screenshot I clicked on my downloads folder to show how all the contents are displayed when you click on it. However if you click on Computer you will get a pop out window with a few available options but those must be double clicked to open and they then open a new folder on the desktop and the original menu dissappears so all you have is the folder you opened on the desktop. It is not a huge problem but what I would like to have happen is to be able to open the files you want from the folder instead of the whole folder if that makes any sense,

Pretty sure from what I can see that its just how Windows operates. Your screenshot is super small and hard to see. I never access via the drop down menus anyway, I use windows explorer and folder view for everything because of personal preference.
