I need a little hug

As we speak our little cat Zoë is being operated on for some fluid behind her lungs. Yesterday evening we thought she was breathing a little bit shocky but decided to see what the night did. Well, this morning it seemed less but we made an appointment with the vet for tonight. Eric was going to check on her during lunch. He did and he didn't trust the situation so he brought her to the vet. The placed her in an oxygin tank and made some photos. They saw the fluid but they can't see what it is. So she was brought under for the operation. Afterwards they will call us.....I don't know how long it will take, but I have no hunger and I just want to cry.

We have two cats and they are not even one year old. She can die from this operation and I can't think of anything else at the moment. She always snuggled on Eric's lap....and why do you think her name is Zoë? She is so cute and way too young to leave us.

So, could you please think of us a little...?
 
Big hugs to you Leontine. My cat survived something similar when he was about 1 1/2 years old. He is almost 8 now, and suffers from a little bit of asthma but doing great. So I will hope for the same for your Zoe.
 
great big hugs!!!!! I ♥ my 3 kitties and would be tied in knots if they had to have something like this done. Plz let us know how her surgery goes.
 
A little update:
She is not doing fine....our vet couldn't take the fluid away because it's thick. So we were sent to a general vet hospital in Utrecht (middle of our country) last night where she is in IC at the moment. Today they will drain the fluid out. Hopefully this works and after a few weeks of antibiotics she will be fine. But they can't garantee us anything. I slept wel last night fortunately, but our thoughts are there.

Our other cat Bruce is clearly searching for his sister...we hugged him a lot!
 
I hope today will bring you better news about Zoe. Keeping you and her in my thoughts and prayers. Do you have a pic of Zoe to share? I keep picturing her as my cat Bella as a kitten in my mind and that made me wonder what she looks like.
 
Unfortunately, I don't have better news to share.
We found out today that she has cancer and that she will not get better. Her chance after chemo is less than 50%. The costs are really high here and for pregnant women it's dangerous. I am not pregnant but we are about to try. So that's a difficult decision to make. If we do nothing she has maybe a few days. The dificult thing is that she is looking fine at the moment. She is not breathing heavily anymore but she is not herself. She is even more quiet than usual.

At this point I really doubt if we even must wait untill later.....
 
Last night went well....she slept like an angel. This morning everything went OK. I am at work. On the first day of the month it's very difficult for me to take a day off. But my BF is at home and updates me every three hours. Today goes fine....but we are wondering how long we need to make this for her.

Someone asked for a photo....I can't give it at the moment, but in my gallery I made a layout not to long ago for the Cindy contest. I am not sure how it's called but I used Sweet escape by KCB.
 
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers....but unfortunately we had to make a tough decision tonight. She was not herself....one minute she is chasing a light on the wall caused by the sun the other minute she lays somewhere breathing like an old person.

Tonight we let her go....We are really sad...she was only 9 months old. We brought her home and tomorrow she will get a nice little place in our garden. Her brother Bruce got the chance to say goodbye and has seen that she is not with us anymore....for him it's good.

Although I know we did everything to help her....this was the best we could do for her. She will be in our memory. The last 24 hours we made a lot of photos from her. Thank God we have scrapbooking.....

So another thank you....
 
I am so, so sorry. We had to go through a very similar thing a few months ago....our little kitty, who was only 18 months old, had an incurable disease--he got worse so quickly that we had to put him down only a few days after finding out he was sick :(

It's such a hard thing, and I felt horrible for weeks afterward, but eventually you do adapt. I still miss him and cry about it every so often, but I also try to remember the good times too. I wrote down all the good memories I had of him so that I could remember (and scrap) later. I still haven't looked back at it (too painful yet) but someday I will appreciate it. And make sure to give Bruce some extra snuggles in the next few days!

Thanks Lynn (and others)....it's a good idea to write down memories for later. It all went so fast. Sundayevening we saw that something was wrong and 72 hours later she is gone...I didn't sleep much last night but we are glad we have a few days off from work because of Ascension Day....time to grief for us. Today we will give her a nice place in our garden, close to the house. I am glad we can do that.

But I feel terrible....I know we did everything we could but it wasn't enough to make her live longer. On the other hand, she had the best 9 months she could think of because Eric spoiled our cats really! Toys, snuggles....

OK, I will stop writing otherwise I will be crying again...
