Big ((hugs)) Col. We had to put my dog down when he was 12. I think he had cancer and some other stuff. In dog years he'd be 84, so I guess my dog lived a good life, but even 7 years later, I still miss him.

I'm so sorry :( It's a hard thing to go through, that's for sure!

Just seeing this now, but sending you the biggest bear hugs ever! You never really know if you're making the right decision, but these little guys can end up suffering so much and everyone I've talked to about this who has let it go on because of their own emotions has regretted it. I hope you'll be able to celebrate all the wonderful years together and know you've helped your baby move on in the most dignified and humane way possible with the best life! :) {{HUGS}}

Aw, {{{hugs}}} Colleen! It's hard to lose a family pet. I bawled for hours when we had to put ours down. He was a member of our family. But you're doing what's best for him. I'm so sorry!

I've been thru this so many times and it's never gotten any easier. The anniversary will come up this Monday of when I had to do it with my last dog, Brigitte. She had congestive heart failure and her kidneys shut down. God love her, she tried, she had an incredible will to live, but it wasn't to be.

The tears in my eyes are not only for her, but for you as well. I've had lots of dog family and miss them all. My heart goes out to you.

As trite as it sounds, your boy led an incredibly wonderful and long life with a loving family. He couldn't have wanted more.

I'm so sorry ... I'm sure it was hard to let him go, but it sounds like it was the kindest thing to do. Hugs!!!

Thanks for all the kind words ladies. I left work early, and tried to read a book to take my mind off it all. Then I was too tired to read but couldn't take a nap. Then I fell asleep for like 2 hours. I'm just kinda out of it for the day I think.

I'm going to go down to a friends place tomorrow and hang out, hopefully it'll take my mind off of it. I just need to remind myself that he's at peace now.

Poor girl! My grandpa is veterinarian and used to work for him, so I've seen the worst of times like you faced.

I'm sorry!

Sending my thoughts and prayers your way!

I just gave myself a headache from crying over this. I'm so sorry for your loss and hope that you do take great comfort in knowing that you've ended his suffering.

Awww - what a great LO!

Sounds like he had a great life! Take comfort in knowing that it ended well!! You have seen "All Dogs Go to Heaven", right?

I'm sure you will miss him lots. ::HUGS::

I am so sorry, big hugs. It is such a hard thing to do. They become such a big part of the family, don't they?
