he didn't know the rules of the road..

we're driving home from school ,there's an intersection all backed up cause someone stopped in the middle of it.. again.. it happens a lot and I growl- ce says "GAH I wish people knew how to drive! Green means GO!!".. we get closer to the light and it turns yellow ... "And yellow means SLOW.. mom you're goign to fa...... MOM YOU WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" haha.. I got lectured the rest of the way home by a 5 yr old. Every light we got to.. I was reminded what each colour meant and told I "better not" go through another red light EVER.
 
I get this too. And she doesn't get the concept of right on red.. so when I turn right on a red light I get yelled at that I ran a red light.. and when I say no I didn't, she's like.. YES YOU DID, I SAW YOU. Sigh.
 
Yeah, my kids have gone through this too. Just wait until he's big enough to see the speedometer and then asks in a sweet, innnocent little voice, "Mom... what is the speed limit here?".

That made me giggle. Nothing like a kid to bring out the truth.

"No, no, sweetie. Let me explain why the rules DON"T apply to mom..."

I feel like I need to make that disclaimer to him but can't figure out how to do it without warping his sense of right and wrong.

dude............. when my dad was teaching me to drive, he actually did say that.. there's this one stretch of road, speed limit is 40, everyone does like 60+ .. so my dad was making me drive the limit and I commented on how he always speeds down that road so he said.. ahem "when you get to be my age you make your own rules" .......... haha. I'm so using that.

Riah is the same way, she always tells me when I went around a corner too fast and tells me to slow down whenever I'm about to turn again, lol.

or... when someone passes me up on the road... she yells to them "slow down, we're already going over the speed limit" lol
 
LOL Ever since my two older kids started to drive - I get lectures about my driving all the time.
 
lmao...thats hilarious! I got taught how to drive by a cop and a drivers license examiner (my dad and mom). Yeah, a permit was fun for about a week. :blink:
