I learned something new (PSE)!!

Oh my goodness, I am so excited (and thats pretty sad, lol). In PSE6 you can make text boxes, but there is no "justification" option, just right, center and left. And so if I wanted to make my text box look justified, I'd spend like an hour, hitting enters & using spaces to even it all out (yes, I'm crazy/stupid like that).

THEN, last night, I was bored and found a link to Jessica Sprague's little hybrid tutorial, and she told how to do justified text in a text box in PSE6!!! I just about hugged the screen, I was so excited. I even wrote down the command, followed by about 6 exclamation points, lol!

Anyways, perhaps I am the last to know (why I never asked is beyond me), but its a "hidden command".

CTRL+SHIFT+J

My life is now complete.
 
Do you do that while the text layer is active?
I actually needed to look that up the other day, and then got distracted, lol. I have CS2, but I'm sure it's the same for something simple like that.

THANK YOU!! i used to do it the same way you did and i never looked right. this is awesome! that has always been one feature i wished i had in PSE6!! woo hoo!!

i found where she told how. she was using pse 4 and 5. i'll have to try it anyway.

i just made a text box. i didnt have to hit the command keys. i selected the text tool and then clicked and dragged a box, then clicked inside it and typed. it worked. hmmm.

Yep - she said to make sure your text is highlighted (she just doubled clicked the T in the layer palette and hit the command).
 
Awesome, thanks Jae! I think I will try this out in a bit. I've got a LO that coudl use some justified text :)
 
YAY!!!!!! I have been wondering how to do this! Hopefully it works the same in PSE7. I'll try it out next time I'm working on a LO. lol

this is how i do it and i found it by accident one day, i was wicked stoked!!! :D :D
 
Thank you for sharing!!! I have a LO I'll be doing soon that will need that, and I didn't know that you could do justified. Yay!!!
 
YEAH!!!!!!! I am so excited about this. I have done the text box but I was like you.....I was entering and trying to make it all look "matched".

I love new tricks! It makes me want to go fix all my other layouts where I used a text box!
 
Well I'm glad that I wasn't the only one wanting to know how to justify text (and not the only one who spent insane amounts of time trying to do it with enters & spaces, hahaha!).
 
ooh good to know - is there a list of hidden commands somewhere? i DL'd a trial of PSE8 to try to 'learn' so i could try to help and teach a friend, but after 2 long and painful LOs ....gawd!! i so love my CS2!
 
I downloaded a CS4 cheat sheet from this site and found that quite a few of the basic ones work for PSE. There are obvious ones that don't work (using features PSE doesn't have), but it's still pretty helpful!

(The justify text shortcut is under the 'Type' section)
