Ugh, I'm NOT a beef jerky fan. My dad made some really good Turkey Jerky once. But it wasn't super tough like most jerky is. And it wasn't nearly as salty.
lol, I know La would LOVE it! hahaha, maybe if it was made out of tofu!
The best BEST jerky ever is make by a company called fresh jerky. Its based in olancha, CA. We stopped there on our way to a backpacking trip in the sierra nevadas. It is the most tender and delicious jerky ever! Mine was target brand. Pretty good for the price. But there were definitely a few tough pieces in there. Oh and a friend made venison jerky once. That was pretty darn good stuff too!
I love jerky!! Ive had many types. There is a guy down the road who sells gator jerky. Its pretty good but I have always wondered if it really is gator meat he makes it with. Venison is also pretty good. We went to Gander Mountain a few months ago and bought a sampler pack which had venison and two other meats. One I think was buffalo or bison or something like that LOL.
Oh yum...if it's the real stuff that is (not the pressed and formed mess, blech).
Every time we drive to Houston to visit my mom, we stop at Woody's Smokehouse in Centerville (halfway between Dallas and Houston)...they have the BEST jerky I've ever had. Beef, elk, venison, bison, turkey, pork, whatever.
LOL, now I have a craving...when we get some extra cash, I might have to order some!
MMMMMM Venison jerky is the BEST!
My DH makes it so yummy. That reminds me, we've got a fresh deer in the chest freezer in the garage, I need to make DH whip up another batch.
Oh I just love the taste of raw, yet dehydrated and seasoned deer muscles. That was for you, La.
