I have just about had it with DST

Mimi, we're like two peas in a pod. :)

I feel tacky posting to a store's gallery if I haven't used anything from that store. Maybe I just haven't adjusted to all of these open galleries at stores, but if I'm not a part of the community and I'm not using a store's products, I don't post there, open or not. And I do occasionally still post at 2 Peas. I'm finally over being bitter at them, lol.

I'm just curious if those of you who post all over the place also leave love at the places you post.

Possibly the only places I regularly leave love in is here and MSA (well, I try to regularly do so) :o I TRY, but sometimes I have a hard time getting galleries straight in my head. I barely return love as it is in DST, but neither do I expect to get comments at all over there! As with a lot of us, I only post there because it's a CT requirement

dang it! i can't get DST to stay open. i want to do the TOTM lift but every time i go to her gallery it then keeps switching to a blank page! grrrrrr.....

Mandy, SmugMug has unlimited bandwith but it is a pay site. I am liking it a lot for backing up my photos and layouts. Also (in the spirit of overkill) have a web hosting account for my blog and set up a gallery there too. I was inspired by Lynnette's (nettio) site.

How do you go about setting up something like that? I really like the idea of having everything in one place like that.

ok, that was harsh, but honestly what is up with it never loading?!?!

it's driving me up a flipping wall.

and another thing. who all has open galleries?

i usually upload to SSD (of course), DST, MSA and Oscraps (cause i always have issues with TDC not clearing cookies...that's another thing thats killing me!)

so who else can i upload to?

I have issues with TDC & don't go there either.

tbh, the only reason I still even try to post at dst is.. because some of my CT's require it, and because that is my "comprehensive" gallery. I post at MSA again because it is required by my ct's. I don't post anywhere else. :)

ME TOO! I only really post my layouts at DST cause that's my biggest gallery but it's just no where what it used to be. I feel bad sometimes as a sugar babe because I feel I should be reading boards there and promoting our products in ISO threads and enabling, etc. But it's so slow and I just generally don't like it there anymore!

you need to get a webhosting account and a domain name. Then install a gallery. I used Gallery2 b/c I liked the options of it and it is free. I'm not sure of all the requirements but you need to be able to set up databases and be able to use PHP (not that you have to understand it but your website should be able to do it).

okay that is sounding complicated but I just followed step by step instructions. I don't understand 90% of what is on the Gallery2 website :D. Also there are probably web hosts that include a gallery that they can install for you.

feel free to ask me any questions . . . maybe I'll even be able to answer 1 or 2.

for those of you who can't upload to TDC do you go directly to gallery? I found with TDC and some other sites that I have to log into the forum first before I stay logged into the gallery.

I post at DST, MSA, TDC, Oscraps & here (if appropriate) and don't have problems with any of them. I don't frequent TDC anymore, but ALL my layouts are there so it's my most complete gallery and need to keep it updated.

DST is just a white page for me...I just posted the TOTM feature and her gallery wouldn't work for me @ DST either. It loads, then goes to a white page..so weird

I only post CT LO's at DST- seems the pages take forever to load. Know lisabranka mentioned it but Scrapbook-bytes is an open gallery- no linking but you can list the store name.

I think it's important that if you are going to post at places besides DST/MSA/2peas (although technically a store) or you designer's store, then you should at least leave a comment or two when you do. I know I only post at TDC and GP when I have time to do that.

I am jumping on the bandwagon with Meems - I LOVE smug mug - best money I spend - and all my layouts and pics are protected -

BTW - can not stand DST ~ I do like MSA

Dittos. I upload to various galleries, the main two being DST and MSA for CT purposes. And of course here and a couple others (and also because of CT requirements). But I always try to comment at each even if it's only a handful of posts.

DST can be frustrating, but it's my most complete gallery and I've "met" some really great girls via commenting there, so I still hold a candle for it, lol.

I'm just curious what y'all hate about DST? Did I miss something? Of course, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. I've just been noticing that a lot of you are gone from there (and miss you!!) and was curious if something in particular happened to drive you away

oh i don't hate it at all. sorry if that is what i conveyed in the original post. it just seems to run really slowly lately and it's a pain to upload layouts. that's all. :)

Gotcha...

No, it wasn't so much your post, just the general overall tone of the thread. I have noticed that MANY have jumped ship from DST, and I must be completely naive about everything cuz I didn't have a clue why.

I think DST is really susceptible to traffic problems and it gets bogged down by the volume of LOs uploaded (it's probably time for a new archive). I've had lots of problems with the site being very slow, but luckily I haven't had an upload problem (other than a duplicate that somehow got uploaded).

Nothing in particular, Trina. I left mainly because I "fit in" better here, for lack of a better term. I always felt a bit lost at DST, and I don't feel that way here.

I don't hang @ DST as much as I used to b/c it was getting so hard to access the site. And then I got more involved here and I don't have the time to hang out @ two places, alas. I do try to pop in now and again though.

i appreciate dst being non-partisan in the digi-world that's for sure! but i have to agree with sara that it is a little overwhelming over there. seems like a lot of people rub shoulders already and if your not 'in' the 'in' it's hard to be. it's a little vast for me as well. nothing personal, just the way it is since is such a thriving board.

Oh I upload there too, but mine is set to private. I've had an account there for 5 years now. Love the 9 cent prints!
How are the prints there, jennilyn? I was going to try them out for 8x8 prints...only $1.90 and shipping is actually pretty cheap! My mom is going to try them for their 9 cent prints, though. We have an account that we share as a family, so we can keep up with eachother's kids (LOTS of photos, lol) and to share vacation photos instead of sending out a billion CD's, lol.

Well, no matter your reasons for leaving DST, know that you all are missed  I never felt "in" at 2Peas, and that's why I left, but I do feel "in" at DST, maybe because I've been there since day 1 (?).

I've recently starting being more active here because this is where my girl Melissa is (and a whole lot more of my wannabe CTs), so I hope you can accept me here :)

Of course we will. :)

Just remember that the whole site, including the forum, is closed from the 8th to the 14th, so don't feel like you've been kicked out when you can't get in. LOL

Thanks for reminding me. I might have gotten a complex if I thought I brought down the whole site on my own for a week :p
