I have an insane travel itch...

2. London, which is pretty much the exact opposite of Bali! But I love history and London's history is SO COOL and deep, and rich. The cathedrals and castles, pubs and markets. I also love that it's "accessible" -- it's not so different from where we live, so it's relatively easy to travel there. I've been to a bunch of European cities and the stress level is always higher traveling to places like Rome and Paris.

If London is anything like Dublin (which I'm assuming LOL) I probably wouldn't like it much. Don't get me wrong, I love love loved Ireland, but Dublin was just sorta.. ho hum to me. I mean I can hop skip up to boston if I want to trudge around a drity city (just think-- rainy.. mud... + city.. and you get dublin LOL )

It's funny.. ce actually hasn't been to boston. He really really wants to go to the museum & aquarium.. but I have this deep rooted fear of the T LOL .. my brother has even lived there for the past couple years and I just can't make myself get on the T alone with connor :D :D :D

My dream vacation spots are on my blog, linked on the sidebar.

I haven't been anywhere outside of the US. But Ive been just about everywhere from Washington State to Washington DC.
My hubby on the other hand (he's Navy) has been to Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Hawaii, Australia, Greece, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Guam....etc etc.

also jealous of him.. well save the being in the navy part-- It must be amazing to be able to travel all over the world though.

OH, LA!! dreaming of travel is all i do!!!
.
.
.

i've been to about 30 states to visit and while american history is really cool, i didn't get that when i was younger so there is so much i'd love to do here! i do remember colonial williamsburg and coronado island...have to go to coronado! in my adult years i've been to alaska (gorgeous, but not my favorite), been to hawaii (so fun, i've just decided the beach is not my thing...completely beautiful though), NYC was rockin! (love the nitty gritty of the city and discovering stuff!). my best trip so far though was to spain when i was 17! the culture is rich, the language is beautiful and the clubs were open till 4am! lol! no, really i strongly recommend spain sometime in your life. africa was amazing too, but in a way that i appreciate my life so much more now! my next far off destination, will be ireland prob sometime next year. my whole family will be going, my parents went when we were smaller so i am stoked to go. we all love it so much that before our move here to colorado, we were seriously considering moving to ireland!

I never had a major interest in Spain.. I don't even know why. I mean I did during spanish classes in HS-- LOL but it never developed more. You'll have to tell me more about spain sometime. Note.. all of my dream vacations include Connor LOL.. So there will be no clubs till 4am :D :D I just can't imagine experiencing all these places without him (yeh I'm a cheesy mom)

La, if you come visit me, you'll have a free place to stay and we can show you around Germany... and prolly France (DH speaks fluent French). Maybe we could even do a few days in London (my fave city so far) and Rome (my 2nd fave). We could even take Ce to Disneyland Paris! How fun would that be?

lol that would be neat.. It's so weird (not the right word) to think about some of you gals being all the way out in europe

We don't get to travel much but our last trip was actually for our wedding and it was to the Poconos in Pennsylvania! :) It was GORGEOUS there!!!

I've been really blessed to travel to a lot of really wonderful places around the world. I got bit by the travel bug when I was 18 and went to Hawaii after High School graduation (I grew up in San Jose, CA). I even worked for a couple years as a travel agent while I was in college, so I got to go to some amazing places for really cheap. And recently, I traveled a lot for work. So, I give you

Mel's top places to visit (in no particular order):
1. Hawaii - tropical beaches, sun, sand...what more to say?
2. France - Incredible food, wine & lots of beautiful scenery. Fantastic museums in Paris (one of my all-time fav cities in the world)
3. San Francisco - I could look at my bridge for hours and not get bored (my other all-time fav city!)
4. Edinburg Scotland - Fantastic castle, lots of history, good food and can you say SCOTCH!
5. London - Another fantastic city. Actually, I've loved everywhere I've been in England.
6. Italy - I've been to Rome, Venice & a small town in Tuscany. Beautiful country and the best food I've ever had abroad (it's not at all like the Italian food we get here).

I would go to any and all of these places as many times as I could, because I love them so much.

On my must visit list:
1. Australia. We have a good friend who lives down there and if I could every get dh to get over his claustrophobia, maybe we'll make the 18 hour flight down there :D
2. Amsterdam - Just because
3. Greece - My MIL went last year and had some fabulous pics from the trip.

I hate flying, especially with my kids, so I don't know if I will ever go anywhere, but I would love to go to...

1. England. My family is from England. And my parents took my siblings all over there a few times. My mom's uncle lives in Wales and they visit him every spring. Have I ever been invited? Nope! BUT, my parents have recently gotten interested in searching out our family history. They have gone as far back as they can with public records and now need to go back to the churches and find the original records. Soooo, they are hoping to plan a big family history trip in a few years. They want to wait until after my mom's uncle passes away, though. He's in his late 80s and not in very good health. He is the only remaining member of his family, except for two adult grandsons who try to nickel & dime him constantly. It's sad! So... long story short, I want to go to England and do family history work!

2. Ireland... same kinda thing. I can trace back another line of my family history to Ireland. I would love to go look around there.

3. Greek Islands. I went out with a Greek guy in college and he used to joke that he wanted to take me home with him to meet his family, but that they wouldn't like me because I am American. I wanted to go to Greece and I told him I didn't care if his family liked me or not! But he told me he would never take me there because it isn't safe enough. So, I never went.

4. Turkey. My dad's cousin & her fiance has an inn in Turkey. The photos look like a resort! But it's just not safe there either right now.

5. Italy. I actually have a friend and her husband who are stationed there right now so we could stay with them for free... I soooooo wanna go!

6. New York City. I have been there several times, but I haven't ever done the touristy stuff. I could spend months in NYC... I love it!

7. The rainforests in Oregon/Washington. I would LOVE to see that!

8. New Zealand

9. Australia

10. Switzerland

11. Hiking the Appalachian Trail. My brother started to hike this a few weeks ago with one of our cousins. The cousin has some mental issues and started freaking out after a couple of days, so they had to call my grandpa to come get them. My brother was a bit disappointed, but said it was AWESOME!

I have no desire to go to Hawaii or on a cruise anywhere. I hate boats. My only requirement is that I get a GOOD DSLR & some BIG memory cards before I go!

I love travelling...thankfully my family took a vacation every summer, and I got to see alot of the country.

My goal was (and I'd still like to do this LOL), is to visit each state in the union...I've been to about half so far.

Places I really want to visit...but since marriage & child...those vacations just aren't happening like they used to...
1. New Zealand...LOTR, need I say more?
2. Alaska...maybe take a mail boat cruise
3. rail trip through the Canadian Rockies
4. London (actually all of GB)
5. Maine in the fall (lighthouse junkie here)
6. Prince Edward Island (LMMontgomery fan)
7. Camping on Vancouver Island

7. The rainforests in Oregon/Washington. I would LOVE to see that!

OMGosh...if you ever get the chance, GO!!! My favorite vacations ever are in that part of the country!!! You've got the rainforests, the rocky shorelines, the mountains, waterfalls, and the GREEN forests...it's beautiful!!! I visited OR, WA, and BC 3 summers in a row and DH and I have discussed moving there after he retires....yeah right like that'll ever happen.
But it is absolutely beautiful!
