I guess I should be flattered...

not classy...maybe she doesn't know to credit a lift. that is the only logical explanation. sorry tracie...you deserve to be credited!

Mmmmm, I'd totally be pissed. And, cuz I'm a bitch, I'd post a comment saying "THANKS FOR LIFTING ME MAYBE YOU COULD PIT IT IN YOUR CREDITS"

Yeah....a lot of people don't play by the "unspoken rules". I think I'd just take it as a compliment anyway. :)

Aww, thanks ladies. I'm not too upset about it, I guess, it just kinda bums me out, especially since I literally spent hours sketching and designing that lo. It's never happened to me before that I know of.

Awww sorry! Yeah, it's happened to me a number of times... it puts me in a BAD mood... but I just hold my tongue and move on. I have left a "thanks for the lift" comment before. I'm pretty sure some of the cases were that the scrapper did not know how to credit properly... I don't want to think people blatantly try to take designs and claim them as their own...

I should so do that! :D

I would look at it as a compliment that she liked your layout enough to copy it. I dont think I have ever had one of my layouts lifted so I think if that ever did happen I would be thrilled LOL

ETA:She may have forgotten where she saw the layout or who made it. I have done that once before as I had gotten an inspiration from mythreehens but I couldnt find the layout on here and didnt realize til like three days later I had saw it on DST so I made sure to leave the credit then when I had realized where it came from.

i do not pay enough attention to dst to know if it ever has happened to me. i prefer my happy little ssd bubble to tell you the truth. HUGS, tracie!

I would not let something like this bother me. She must have totally loved your LO and maybe she is new to scrapping-and doesn't know the rules. I hope you aren't too upset by this-I would totally take it as a huge compliment.

I have actually done the exact same thing. I even forgot to post it was a lift until a few days later! :o I never did find the lo that it was inspired by.

I'd cut her some slack. she's only got 60 posts at DST; she probably doesn't know the "rules". When I first started scrapping, it didn't occur to me to credit my inspiration; it was only after I saw threads about the subject that I started crediting.

That is one of my favorite layouts of yours, btw.

This happened to me quite a while ago and it ended up that it was more than one person doing it...I kept seeing my same layout copied over and over in the gallery over a weeks time and none of them credited me. From what I could gather...it was a non-English speaking group of scrapbookers who had picked my layout to scraplift as a group and they apparently didn't know the etiquette of crediting the person they were lifting.

You should keep your eye out on the gallery and see if there are any more. It could be the same situation as mine. And for the record, I was a little peeved that they didn't credit me.

i sweetly left her a comment on her page that it was a great "lift". totally not snarky, i really was nice, just wanted her to maybe think. She may in all honesty have forgotten it in haste posting her page, so maybe her memory will be jogged.

Well, as soon as I saw that page I wanted to lift it! :) But I would have credited you.

I have to say that sometimes if I do a page that I really like, and post it in the gallery, I will sometimes panic and think "Oh no, did I lift someone here and forget it?" Meaning was strongly influenced by someone, changed it a bit, but still need to acknowledge it... but if I pretty much really LIFTED someone I would know it. I was recently really honored to discover that one of my LO's was chosen for a scraplift challenge at another website. I had panic initially, because I felt like I might have lifted someone else and forgotten, lol. But then I remembered the thought process I went through with the page and that calmed me down. :)

I do sometimes forget to post that it's a lift -- I'm so busy trying to remember where all the elements came from and get them right and get the pages posted to the right place, that it just slips my mind. [I do go back and correct them when I remember]!

Ditto......I probably did the same think in my first couple of weeks of scrapbooking once or twice........

Gorgeous LO though!

What I was going to say. Love the original. It's so gorgeous!

Love your page and it is definitely a compliment. :)

Not long ago I did a page and then noticed a page that had been posted before mine. In my eyes, my page looked like it could have been a lift of the other page and I was all paranoid that the scrapper was going to see my page and feel like I had lifted her w/o credit. but really I hadn't b/c I had never seen her page before. It was just a strange coincidence. Not saying that is the case in your situation though; her page definitely looks like lift of yours.

I was just going to throw this out there. I've created a page before and then encountered one that looked SO much like what I had made, only it was posted before mine and I'd never seen it before. I have to wonder if that scrapper had seen mine, would she think I lifted her without credit? So it's *possible* this was her own idea and it looks a lot like yours. Also, not saying that's the case, she very well may have been inspired by your gorgeous layout. It looks like it to me, that's for sure. Or like the other girls mentioned she may just not be aware of ettiquete. In any case, I understand the bummed feeling. I would feel the same way!

I do have to say that's one of my fave layouts of yours...beautiful and definitely lift worthy. :)

I've also lifted someone (or been strongly influenced by one of their LOs) and then completely forgotten where I saw that original LO. However, I always put something in the credits like "This LO was inspired by another LO I saw in XYZ gallery a few days ago, but I can't seem to remember who created the original in order to give them credit. Sorry! If it looks like yours, please leave a comment with a link to your LO so I can add the credit". Or something along those lines. But I think I would feel frustrated a bit if I were in your shoes!! Human nature.

Awww, I think it's a great compliment Tracie...sorry it bummed you out. I would give her the benefit of the doubt this one time. It takes a while to get all the etiquette down.:)

I totally think she doesn't speak English and may not know the 'rules' but I also LOVED Amy's comment! Maybe she'll know it in the future! ;)

Well, I just have to say that your layout is awesome!!!

Hopefully with Amy's comment, she'll understand about crediting.......maybe.

This has totally happened to me before....it was actually one that Kay made into a cookie for the cookie challenge. It had a similar design to one of Kasia's LO (former TOTM) and I had never seen it before she was TOTM. That's what bothers me about posting in galleries, there are so many millions of LO, surely designs are going to overlap coincidentally.

Definitely, your is REALLY original though, and that was an obvious lift :)

I had it happen, it was an exact duplicate. It was so hard to bite my tongue, partly because I didn't think the LO was very good or lift worthy anyway LOL!
