lol

I'm surprised i have never had one. i have a lead foot :p

If your state allows it - TAKE THE DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE!!!!!

In Texas, you take it, and while you still have to pay the fine, it doesn't not go against your permanent record, thus doesn't increase your insurance!

UGH, that totally bites!
I'm 32 and just got my very first one about 6 months ago. Doing 20 over the speed limit because I was passing a slow ass farmer doing 45 in a 55!!!!! It was on a hill so of course when you come down the hill you go way faster than what you need to!
The jerk caught me and I seriously thought I was going to have a mental breakdown. LOL

Tha happened to my DH coming back from my mum's at Easter. This dear little old man was doing way under the speed limit DH passed on a hill, bang got caught! He was not happy:cursing:

My husband and I take turns getting them every 18 months or so. It's his turn currently, my last was 2 years ago

We won't talk about the day that I got two. Yes two.

70 miles apart.

In two different cars.

One hour apart.

No, we won't talk about that day.

my husband got one quite a few years ago for going 4 miles over the speed limit. Cop told him he could not actually give him a speedding ticket for that but he did issue a ticket for not obeying the posted street signs (speed signs). Seventy-five dollar ticket!! Im guesssing that cop was having a bad day

Really? They must have changed that because when I lived there, if you opted to take it - you didn't have to pay the fine. That's the last speeding ticket I got which was 9 years ago, so perhaps they changed since then. LOL

I am in Texas and sad to say I got a ticket last year and took defensive driving for it, luckily it's been more than a year so I can take it again! It will save me like $50-$60 off the ticket price.

And what sucks is I was trying to get off on an exit. I had my turn signal on for 2-3 mins and when I slowed down the person next to me in my BLIND SPOT slowed down. When I sped up he/she sped up. So to get around them I sped up in a burst to pass them and that is when the cop zapped me. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You aren't paying the fine you are paying the processing fee & court costs and then you have to pay for the driving course that is $25. So I have to pay $107 for the processing/court costs and then the $25. The speeding ticket itself would've cost me $178 (I got clocked at 72 in a 60:thumbdown::cursing::thumbdown:).

That sucks Jami!

My DH had never had a traffic ticket until the first month we were married and then he managed to get two in about one week! Both were for speeding in a school zone cause he was late for class/work! I wanted to strangle him lol!
